SLK32 AMG tyres
Discussion
Now that Pirelli have stopped making Pzero rossos in the size for the SLK32 can anyone give me recommendations. I emailed Pirelli asking for their advice and they replied with this.
The Cinturato's are the eco friendly family of the Pirelli range which have been designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, provide high mileage, low rolling resistance, low noise and better comfort.
When I emailed back to suggest I was after a performance tyre,.... well I'm yet to receive a reply.
What do you suggest?

I use Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta on my CLK but they've changed the range but some suppliers still have them in stock, I haven't had to fit the newer ones yet but if their anything like the old ones I'll have no complaints. Great dry grip & good wet grip to as well as decent wear rates.
I use Michelin Pilot Sports on my SLK32 AMG. Originally PS2, then PS3 and more recently I've had to have a couple of PS4s fitted to the front, because one of my half-life PS3s had been damaged. The PS3 is no longer made and I wanted the same tyre spec. on each side.
I'll be changing the rears shortly; again, they'll be Michelin Pilot Sport PS4.

I have a 320 SLK with the factory fitted AMG body kit and 17" wheels - the same as the SLK 32.
I've gone for Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, all round. This based on my very good experience with Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my other car.
Michelin Pilot Super Sports are not available in the AMG 17" size, which is a pity. However, internet user reports that have compared the MPSS with the MPS4 say that there is very little difference. Whereas, the MPS3 was always a bit 'wobbly' and not really a tyre designed for a 'spirited' drive, Michelin had the MPS2 for that and the MPS3 was never intended to be a replacement, confusingly!
Based on all of that, I think you'll be really impressed with the MPS4s. (superb off the line grip, high confidence factor, side load stability, wet grip and longevity)
For the AMG (£120 rears, £80 fronts - tyreleader)
My other car has 300hp through the front wheels and I get 18,000 out of a front set.

You'll most likely scoff at this but when your car left the factory it was fitted with Continental, I'm guessing your car is around 2001 -2003 ish ? So on my C32 I have 4 Matador MP46 fitted, apparently they have the licence for the Continentals from arom 10 years past...so same tyres it came out the factory with.
In the past I have always used Vredsteins , excellent tyres, but I have to say these matadors, apart from the duff name, are good all rounders in wet or dry,I do not use the car for day to day ,only to go out on my own for a blast & these are fine ...Openo good price, last year .
