the officers original statement does not match up with the video footage released a few days later in your link.
lock em up and throw away the key
After the shooting, Crutcher could be seen lying on the side of the road, blood pooling around his body, for nearly two minutes before anyone checked on him. When asked why police did not provide immediate assistance once Crutcher was down, MacKenzie said, “I don’t know that we have protocol on how to render aid to people.”

I"m surprised there has been no comment on the current shooting.
Family say he was unarmed (or the gun was planted), police say he was armed.
Been rioting for about 4 nights now.
Because this isn't about people getting shot by police. All the feel-gooders on here might thing that and sympathize.Family say he was unarmed (or the gun was planted), police say he was armed.

It's not, this is pure racial rioting. This is groups of black rioters attacking white people on the street and shooting each other too. All the while people are reacting to some bullst about how all these people who have been in the news after being shot by the police were innocent.
We've already had this, the entire founding of this public unrest non-sense was michael brown, the whole "hands up dont shoot" which was a fking lie and it pretty much stayed at that level.

Because cops carry a few unregistered guns around with them, on the off-chance that they encounter an innocent black man to plant them on. It's part of their standard issue kit.I guess this innocent peace-loving bookworm was wearing an ankle holster as a fashion statement.

I'm not surprised it's every other week it gets tedious discussing the same stuff. Another 4 killed last night in a shopping mall it doesn't even register as news anymore. Family say he was unarmed (or the gun was planted), police say he was armed.

Is that illegal in that state? As far as I've seen, new reports don't mention him going for the gun.
Is what illegal?Where there's a holster, there's invariably a gun. News reports do mention police pleading with this man to put his gun down and him steadfastly refusing. All this crap about him just sitting in his car 'reading a book' is just absurd.
His wife was at the scene during the shooting, repeatedly hollering, "Keith - don't do it" and "Just get out of the car" and "Don't shoot him, he's had a TBI"
When you point a gun at police - expect to get shot. Plain and simple.

Dash cam and one body cam video released here - https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/national/here... .
I don't see any weapon being raised toward an officer? Why wasn't a Taser used in this situation?

I agree, but you also don't see any form of compliance with police orders, which only puts the officers on edge,I don't see any weapon being raised toward an officer? Why wasn't a Taser used in this situation?
When I see these videos there is an overriding theme of police officers screaming for them to put their hands up or to get down on the ground etc and those orders not being followed. Im not saying they should be shot for that but any sudden movement during these twitchy situations and your life rests in the split second decision of an officer with a gun. Rightly or wrongly shots are going to get fired.

Who earns about £22k per year. Is constantly placed within a culture, where human life is almost considered worthless within the gang community. Not saying the individual shot was part of a gang scene, but why have a gun and ankle holster when out and about in Charlotte. If the reports are true of his DNA and prints being found on the gun and that indeed he was wearing the holster.. why didn't his wife know.? She was screaming that he didn't have a gun, but seconds later telling her husband not to do it...The plot thickens...

Simple question - was it legal in that state for him to have a firearm in an ankle holster? I'm not talking about him pointing it at the police, simply whether wearing one in that fashion was legal.
It may be legal,in that state to carry a concealed weapon if you get a licence I don't know. But even if it was it doesn't mean it was a legal gun or he was able to get a licence. Many things disqualify people from having them. Criminal record for example. In some states that have ccw licence you have to notify the police that you are carrying they will sometimes take the weapon and clear it before proceeding g to give you a speeding ticket. In some states you don't have to.
