Yes, that would be a real 'community' gesture and the British thing to do. Undoubtably they will have friends or family who will know it was them.

Here's hoping for some news that these two potential violent murderers are reported by their own communities. After all, if it is true that Muslim communities are as British as others (and I truly believe they are) then they will be reported shortly.

I just refuse to believe that they will be sheltered and protected by entire Muslim communities. Come on guys, let's have some British solidarity in these great islands of ours!
Pretty sure it's actually part of our culture to grass people up, people love a good dobbing! biggrin
Yep - look at all the support that dashcammers get when they ask if they should report bad driving to the police..... hehe

I know! It's weird isn't it, we use the phrase to our kids "nobody likes a tittle-tattle" whilst also telling them to speak to their teacher if they're being bullied/picked on! (on the QT I tell them to just hit the fkers back in the nose which got me in trouble with Mrs Noisy one time.)

I think though, despite this, I would definitely teach my young uns that telling on someone you suspect may have been involved in the abduction of an innocent man with the probable intent of beheading or burning him alive in the name of an extreme cult was the right thing to do.

Anyway, back to the humour - heard this guy was a Rock ape through unofficial channels. They picked on the wrong airmen ffs ha ha!

I heard RAF Reg. Fond memories of those chaps from Laarbruch.

It's a tactic....

1. Make sarcastic suggestion about Mods closing threads
2. Hope that mods become worried about being overly PC
3. make various bigoted assertions, comments about RoP, and links to Jihadiwatch
4. Mods close thread
5. Accuse mods of being overly PC
You are so funny rofl

You should know why threads get closed prematurely, nothing to do with 1 & 2.

I don't know about funny, but he is spot on. You mention the mods so often I'm surprised your user name isn't Lambretta.

Thanks

Really not bothered and have tried to be civil to him and his sidekicks who have tried to derail with irrelevant issues - Mods have deleted their offensive posts as recently as yesterday.

Odd Twiggy has never commented on other members, some who joined more recently than me (so it cannot be elitist smile) - Snorky82, Trabi, jjlynne27. To be fair they sing from the the same "hymn" sheet. smile

Apologies for the off topic, but they did start it and hopefully this will end it smile

I would hope the ANPR listings for that area are being filtered as we speak for dark coloured people carriers, and go from there.
What's the non-emergency number for reporting this sort of thing?

There's a guy 5 doors down from me, perfect stranger but he's got a Touran in a sort of deep purple but it's sometimes difficult to tell on a black night. He also has a GT3 so fancies himself as a bit of a speed king but really he's no highway star. Anyway I digress, would you report him or just keep hush?

I don't want to appear lazy as it might just be smoke on the water but I'd hate to see anything burn or go up in a fireball.

I heard on the radio this morning that the police are asking for help from the public, have they missed a trick with the proliferation of dash came now? Should they have asked people to check their memory cards if they were in the area say up to 60 miles away, they may not have noticed an individual car when driving but it might show up when you play it back.

I am wondering why on earth this was front page news?

There is no real evidence that this was an abduction attempt. Any serious attempt at an abduction would not have failed against an unarmed unsuspecting individual out for a jog and with earphones in. And a 3 inch knife? clearly they turned up underprepared.

I am surprised that this and the Bulford scare gets any traction outside of local news. We never used to be this twitchy; makes me a little bit embarrassed for our service people to be honest.

Are you speaking from real world experience or have you formed your expert opinion from watching Taken 1-3?

You would think that if they travelled any distance things would, as stated above, gone differently.

I agree. There was no abduction attempt and it's a lot of fuss about the sort of thing that happens every day.

You're right. I need to relax. In fact I've just seen the funny side of it. Hell, I even had to go to the window for air it was that funny.

I'm going to copy the image and email it to Marham base, marked FAO British Serviceman who just had two middle eastern looking guys come at him with a 3 inch military style knife. He'll love it.
It's probably already been photoshopped and pinned up in the NAAFI.
Yup, civilians don't get forces humour. You can bet that the blokes oppo's are planning to burst into to his mess covered in boot polish shouting "alans snackbar" any minute now smile

Yup - he needs to relax, but I'm sure the comment was well meant.

Moving on, the RAF already have an abduction-proofed officer. Apparently they plan to roll him out nationwide...

biggrin (In the RAF's defence he's a Air Cadet Instructor from what I've heard.)

Ha ha! That's fantastic!

Reminds me of a time we were at an 'All you can eat' buffet whilst travelling through Texas. There was a chap who would make that fella seem thin and he had a plain white T-shirt with just the phrase 'Difficult to kidnap' written on it in black. Still makes me chuckle to think of it.
