Even if the press don't make a big story of it, social media will and then there will be outrage that they (government/press) are trying to hide these atrocities and sweep them under the carpet.

I think the press need to look at themselves with how all this is being reported.

We have a few nut-jobs who have seen other nut-jobs achieve notoriety, so are now motivating themselves to get out there and get themselves noticed.

Did anyone here comment on the German nurse who was convicted last month of multiple murders? - I'm guessing they didn't, even though his death count is more than all the recent attacks added together.

Knife murder in a kebab shop in a small German town - a month ago, it would't even have been on our radar.
Do you suggest they don't let us know any of it?
I'm suggesting that 24/7 reporting, speculation, live feeds, etc., are feeding nut-jobs with the desire to go and and make a name for themselves.

Report it, by all means, but don't make it a big story. The desire to copy will lessen if there's little publicity in doing it.

We don't report every murder in Germany on UK television or in UK newspapers - why feed the nut-jobs now?
Stop it - sensible posts aren't allowed on here redcard

The trouble is the media of today just won't see that angle.

Some of what you say is right. I suppose anything classified as terrorism/mass shooting/religious/immigrant will generate more media attention than everyday events that have been occurring forever.

We both have just fed the 24/7 world frown

Good point - I haven't factored in the xenophobes, racists, far right activists and anyone else who delights in blaming 'Snackbars' for everything.

Accusations as defence.

And if "snackbars" went on strike, win-win. Talk to them. smile

You raise a valid point but several of those nut jobs pledged their alliance to ISIS before the attacks and ISIS afterwards warned of more lone woft syle attacks on smaller German towns and cities, seeing as the man is a Syrian refugee this could be the next attack they warned about or it could be completely unrelated

I do feel that the whole 24/7 news reporting does play into the hands of ISIS though and the past few attacks constantly in the news will only inspire more to join ISIS or pledge an alliance just before carrying out an attack

The attacker was employed in a Turkish Kebap house; the Polish lady he killed was also employed at that Kebap house. The attacker - who was known for other crimes to the police already - was indeed (eyewitness: deliberately) wiped out by a white BMW, as he crossed the street with the machete in his hand.

eta: http://www.bz-berlin.de/deutschland/eine-tote-mann...

Well, those news sites don't have consistent information yet: apparently, the son of the Kebap house owner drove the white BMW. And the lady was his girlfriend and pregnant.

Oakey said:
Sure, it's totally unreasonable for people to assume this sort of thing might be Islamic nutjobs. It's not like there's a precedent for that sort of thing recently. Even IS assumed it was someone doing it in their name!
Lets assume that every murder in and around Spalding is a result of unhinged builder who'll shoot their family.
Or, you could wait and see what it is before coming with cretinous 'snackbar' comments.
Theres nothing wrong with Oakeys assertion that it would be reasonable to assume IS. Unlike your response which is idiotic and infantile.
So you still think it's reasonable to assume any future attack in Germany is by IS until proven otherwise? Surely a more rational response is to not assume any one group is behind it and to wait for evidence?
You can really see how many are getting so defensive they are unable to engage their brain
The last 8 terrorist attacks in 2016 alone in Western Europe were directly related to Islam - of course it's fking natural to assume it is another one of them fools when something hits the headlines.

I'm sorry but In the case of terrorism it's Islam related until proven otherwise given the world we're in.

Why are you talking about sides? I thought it was all of us vs. ISIS?

Given that 2 of the last 3 attacks seem to have absolutely nothing to do with ISIS or being a 'Snackbar', it's a very dangerous and small minded way to think.

The blatant, open and seemingly acceptance of racism on this forum is quite shocking.
