Are they doing the same checks on all the other routes into France via Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Lux and Switzerland......I very much doubt it.
Well, you'd be wrong. I crossed by road into France from Germany (over the Rhine east of Strasbourg) on Monday, crossed back out into Luxembourg north of Metz and then back in from Belgium north of Lille on Tuesday and at all three border points into France there were long queues of traffic and a high police presence.

We entered Germany from Switzerland at Basel, but at the same border point heading into France there were also long queues, with lorries stacked up on the hard-shoulder waiting to get in.
Fair enough.

But this is all stable door and ALL the horses having bolted surely.

The damage is done.

Aren't the additional security checks on routes INTO France?

But wasn't the tt in Nice already living there...?
While the two tts responsible for Charlie Hebdo were born and raised in Paris. While the Paris attackers came from Belgium.

Any Son of Allah in the UK who want to claim his 75 virgins is hardly going to bother going to France to blow himself up.

Just been on this article on the Mail website, it seems the comments have been hacked. All top comments are anti brexit and green arrowed by a large margin

No, just walk through and claim asylum in France - see how they like it.

We did Dover - Calais last year and only just managed to get through (2 lanes of lorries from Ashford to Dover though...) but some friends of ours came a couple of days later & had massive delays heading to Dover and then again in France because of some protest or another.

I suggested we go Plymouth - Roscoff this year and I am currently being seen as some sort of saviour in our houselaugh

Flew into Paris on BA 314 today at 2pm'ish, expecting similar delays and....

None...no queues and about 5 immigration officers looking bored.

So I guess they put them all in the wrong place!

You'll get there. As bright as that guy who wanted to boycott companies who warned about brexit.

10 or 15 hour delays? People sleeping in their cars on the road?

Sorry, but bks! It's nothing like the nonsense they are causing on and around Dover.

Dover is a pinchpoint at the best of times. At the start of school holidays it is even worse. Couple that with increased vigilance and...

There are dozens of ways to cross into France from Germany, likewise Belgium, Italy etc. and I saw long queues at just four of them. Imagine all that traffic trying to get through one single point, because that's exactly what is happening at Dover.

It isn't though. All the channel ports have been very busy but delays due to increased security have only been reported at one - Dover.

I tend to agree; you'd be pretty foolish to use Dover over the 1st week of the school holidays when there are so many alternatives. We came across last week-end by Eurotunnel and went straight through
