Just got my nice shiny shell back from paint, looking at the suspension control arms/diff mounts/engine cradle etc, whats the best option for paint? I'm thinking powder coating can and will chip so a proper POR-15 will be the best option to use?

Any thoughts/opinions/ideas?

POR-15 is good as long as it's either on quite rough metal, or I believe there's a surface prep you can use if it's a bit smoother. I've put some on smooth metal before now and seen it peel off in a big skin.

I've avoided powder coating on my current project simply because I can touch up paint, and I can't touch up powder coating. The PC bloke said it shouldn't chip, but it probably will.

Is it all bare stuff that can be taken to somewhere to have done? If so, I'd look into hot zinc spraying, followed by a good 2-part epoxy paint, with whetever prep/primer the paint manufacturer recommends between the two.

All my wishbones, uprights and subframes were painted in 2-part Epoxy Mastic from www.rust.co.uk and they look spot on after two years. I did a lot of reading about the different coatings and in various tests the Epoxy Mastic stuff came out on top. POR-15 wasn't actually that great - it has a much nicer and glossier finish, but it was seemingly a bit more brittle. Powder coating is a definite no, because any chips or cracks allow the rust to develop underneath the coating without you knowing. I worked for TVR many years ago and their powder coated chassis were horrific for rust.

I *knew* there was another reason I didn't use POR-15 on chassis bits - the glossy finish. Frosts other chassis paint is also very glossy for some reason. I've used Epoxy Mastic (which I believe is a packaged expensive version of Jotun Jota-mastic btw) on the floorpan under (or above) the stonechip.
