Jesus, I spent time living a few miles south of there in Atsugi and of all the countries in the all the world Japan is not somewhere you'd imagine something like this happening in, it feels like such a safe countrY. Dark times all over the globe currently it seems.

Knife attacks are not as uncommon as you would think in Japan. This is a pretty serious number though, sadly.

Really scary that people like you and that resident nutjob here have access to arms.

Quite sad what's happening all over, lot of people on the edge.

I think you'll find that's sarcasm.

There were times and places in the 90s that you'd generally avoid in Tokyo...

This thread won't last more than an hour on the front page, as the usual suspects can't have a rant about Muslims.

Awful actions by the perpetrator.

Worst mass killing in Japan since WWII.

How many has the US had in the last 12 months?

Every country has dangerous nutters, generally better when they don't have access to guns, however, given the targets it is unlikely they could escape sadly.

Knive serve other purposes, guns don't, claiming the moral high ground because another country has had a massacre seems a bit desperate, doesn't justify or change anything.
