Lied to get a job is OK with you?

Here's how it works in the real world:

The police cannot even verify who works for them? And they are supposed to be the best in the world?
Unless I'm missing something there wasn't an issue with the Policeman's ID or entitlement to work in the UK, It looks to me as if he's exaggerated/lied about his qualifications and work experience. These aren't always checked rigorously because in most jobs they're not a legal requirement. However there will be more and more opportunity for checking, and reason for checking, each time you apply for a more senior role.

The big one here is that he lied about a material fact in the shape of a quali that he'd never actually gained. This is a big step up from standard CV bullsh*t. We have all been "responsible for a project" and "headed up a team delivering" when in fact we just did some of the spadework and wrote up the odd report while other people either did the real work or had the proper responsibility, but that's fair enough. What you shouldn't do, especially as a policeman where your word is legally held to be worth more than a normal person's, is lie about a material fact.

Apparently 'swarms' of insects were released at the Burger chain in protest of the raids, surprised this isn't classified as biological terrorism tbh as it must have terrified the diners and staff in there at the time.

I would arrest the perpetrators and if any are here illegally they would be on a flight home right away

They were probably from Hoxton, or perhaps Islington or Notting Hill. So a cab would be cheaper.

Their burgers probably are tastier with the odd locust and cockroach added as a relish.
I've eaten there and it's ok at best.

Overpriced cardigan-wearing Grauniad-reading hipster burger joint.
But unfortunately, the sort of customer who is, or has friends who will jump on the faux outrage bandwagon.

What upsets me is that in London it costs £30 for two for a sit down burger, fries and soft drink and most I've had recently have been mediocre.
Best burger I've eaten recently was in Porto,it was 9 euro with fries and was yummy.

Yep, I used to regularly get ripped off at the one near Cutty Sark/Island Gardens with work colleagues. Then suggested the greasy Chinese across the road which did massive portions of food for about 1/3 of the price. Similar levels of hygiene as well.

Byron isn't particularly hipster, really. Perhaps it was once.

I think that when these type of places are rolled out they loose the magic that they had when only one or two branches.
The personal touch goes and the accountants take over.

I suspect their due diligence was a bit sketchy and I maintain my suspicion that they did a deal to avoid a bumming from the authorities. One thing's sure, their PR department either wasn't consulted or they want shooting. Crap PR.

I guess someone has to work there, and if they cannot fill the vacancies with genuine people, then anyone available would do.

Where is the suggestion they were failing to get staff so falsified their checks and knowingly employed illegal workers ?

They don't seem to have a choice. Comply or get raided and closed down for the day an face up to a £700k fine and the PR from that.
People don't seem to accept any responsibility for their own actions these days. This case is similar to those immigrants who come on a temporary visa, don't get an extension, refuse to leave and then face forced deportation to the same bunch of stupid protesters.

There's always a copy of Socialist Worker tucked under an arm in those photos.

Nourishment for the minds of the terminally stupid.
