The other story I don't quite get is the one that was on the Beeb and no doubt elsewhere about the US Marine who died tragically in a climbing accident.

No, they even messed with the CCTV to make it look like he was near her for longer, she still can't be named because she is a "victim".
Who is 'they'?

It'd be the police or CPS.

From reading the defence statements in the media, the CCTV was 1 FPS. The copies served on the defence had been slowed so the one frame lasted two seconds. There could be a number of reasons for this, especially if you're working with 1 FPS CCTV, so suggesting it was for nefarious means like dudlybloke is doing is unfounded (although there are seemingly questions that need answering about that prosecution).

They seem to like climbing accidents, I don't know why. There seems to be a certain glamour about it. A mate of mine had his 15 minutes when he fell off at Tremadoc 2 years ago, bless him. Nearly 2 years to the day in fact. RIP Keith.

It's odd, because climbing isn't as dangerous as you'd think. I've been a climber 30 years and I've lost 3 climbing friends. One on a motorbike, one in a Porsche, and only one falling off a cliff. The closest I've come to dying is in a bicycle accident.

Presumably the CCTV had timestamps on it, which would probably show how long it was actually running for?

Yes, I assume it would, which would undermine the 'sinister motive' speculation further.

Yes read that earlier - it applies to sporting events too where in slow motion you can think the player has time premeditate what happened rather than it being an accident

In that Archers case I hadnt realised the CCTV had been doctored

It's interesting reading. It'll add on top off all the other jury (human) bias.
