Hi All,

This is what I am looking for. Its for business and personal use, no gaming, almost all files are in the cloud so big storage unnecessary, Windows 10, touch screen. I looked at the Dell XPS 13 but there are plenty of options...?

Thanks

My girlfriend got one of these recently which seems pretty decent: http://www.johnlewis.com/asus-zenbook-ux305-ultrab...

Only an M3 processor but it seems to cope well with everything she does on it - mainly browsing and office documents etc.

From what i hear, the XPS 13 seems to be the one to go for. Check www.dell.co.uk/outlet and watch for 9350 machines appearing, they're the ones to have. You should get several hundred off retail price at least. I very very nearly bought a 1TB SSD, 16GB, i7, Win10 Pro, 4k XPS 13 on there for £1103 (retail price £1599), however i really really really dont need it (i've 3 laptops as is - 4 if you include my work one)

I've a HP Envy 13, which i like a lot. I have the i7 variant but the i5 is close to your budget

EDIT: Just found the i7 variant - "remanufactured" by HP

Saw this yesterday

https://www.scan.co.uk/products/125-lenovo-thinkpa...

Doesn't seem too bad and price seems ok but not sure if they're any good as a machine. Windows 7 not 10.

Am sort of tempted but not sure if I really want one or something with better graphics.

it is if you go all out for the top model... The Lenovo Yoga 500 and 700 series any good?

Seems pretty nice to me, odd-ball 14 inch size though. But as its also a foldy 2-in-1 thing, there is a touch screen. £649, though they only have a 128gb SSD.

Ideally yes, simply because they have better keyboards. I do like the Surface but its keyboard seemed a bit lightweight for lots of typing.

Surface can suffer with hardware issues as it is laptop hardware enclosed in in a smaller package so i have heard of issues around this

For a true ultrabook your budget is probably a little thin i'm afraid, as they tend to start at that price and go up.

I'm not sure an ultra book is the right choice unless you can find one on budget, they are higher powered with SSD's and longer battery life and made out of lightweight materials and these all add to the cost.

Also based on what you want it to do i am not sure you need an ultra book, a decent laptop with an i5 and 8gb of memory would suffice I should think

Thanks, you're probably right. I just like the SSD and thin/light designs.

I just got a Lenovo 710s - its more of a conventional laptop, but super thin and light with thin screen bezel similar to the XPS 13.

What about a Dell Latitude 7250?

I've got one and I love it. Not sure if they're touch screen or not plus the dell outlet is loaded with them at the moment!

Does seem a hard one to find. Many of the older Yoga 700s about. I think the PC World model is a higher spec.
