A good move imo. And I'm a non-licenced person. The only thing I watched on occasion via iPlayer was PMQ but won't miss it.

How so?

For the internet you need a land line so tag the fee onto that or if using a dongle or pairing etc tag the duty onto that.
I don't know but as soon as it happens there will be a workaround somewhere.

I already pay for my internet thanks very much. They can fk off trying to 'licence' it. At least the TV licence pays for (ste BBC) content, what would an internet tax pay for that we're not already getting for free (or paying for voluntarily)? Socialist bds. wink

I really wish government would just stop for a while. Nothing new. No changes. Just let us be.

Well you raise an interesting point. On the weekend I was reading one of the papers telegraph or The times not sure which but none the less one of the articles is that in the UK we have one of he cheapest internets available. However the cost to upgrade the system and its ongoing viability cost wise was challenging so it looks likely Internet costs will be increasing without any govt tax involvement.

One thing for sure in life is tax - I try my best to legally avoid as much as I can but I'm learning there really isn't that much you can not waste too much time worrying about it

Seems fair to me, but then I'd rather like to get the Beeb for £145 a year. For all its failings the BBC is massively better than anything we have normal access to in New Zealand, and the licence fee is about half the price of a local Sky subscription.

No thanks.

Don't pay now. Won't pay come September 1st. We never watch Live TV at home, we don't have the equipment to do so. We hardly ever watch iPlayer without a license (but that's ok for now) and this won't encourage me to pay. I just won't watch anything BBC at all.

You need to give them the call that you're leaving then.

And there's me with my broadband, home phone and unlimited calls on the mobile for less than £50. And no TV licence obviously.

Not that I'm smug about it. wink

Privatize the fking thing and be done with it. Whining fking maggots.
This sort of statement winds me up too, it does not "cost" the BBC £150m a year it fails to earn them that £150m which is a subtle but nevertheless big difference.

The Whole BBC thing is so out of date it hurts and the more fuss they (and their private collection firm) kick up the more resentment will be created.

I don't watch any BBC at all let alone any live to air broadcasts, we have sky and everything is recorded and watched later when we have time.

Technically I don't need a licence but the wife insists we have one.

Your wife is right; you do need a licence.

With Sky you're receiving a live broadcast - whether you watch it or record it is irrelevant, it's still live and for that you need a licence.

Currently no licence is required if you do not watch or record any live broadcasts.

Yes but like for like we pay the same.

You are electing to stream Sky Atlantic stream pay per view sports and movies - I'm legally paying the price.

I've met people in real life who claim not to have a TV or watch TV and think not having a TV license mean their gifted access to some kind of ethereal high ground on which, the reality is of course their, without exception, wkers.

Good for the BBC, they're by far the best braodcaster in the world and largely because of the (not so) unique way they're funded. One of the best value bits of British culture there is, like the NHS, something we should all be incredibly proud of, probably the only two things we have left to be proud of.

In your opinion, which is absolutely fine.

I think you're wrong, but that's what opinions are all about.

When we had sky you could watch on demand no need to record anything. Don't think a licence is needed for that. Ready to be corrected.
