And how to break the cycle? You won't stop carrying a gun because everyone else still will be, and as one of them pointed out the choice is between selling drugs, being on drugs or working for $8 an hour. Can't move anywhere else because they can't afford it, and the Police and rest of the city would rather contain them in one place. You're brought up to resent authority and surrounded by gangster rap that glamorises the lifestyle and is the only way to make money or escape
and what's wrong with working for minimum wage?
Because selling drugs is seen as easier, more profitable and more glamorous
Not if you end up in jail or beaten up/murdered it isn't hehe

Except being in jail might be safer than the streets.....

The main interviewee and contact in the BBC video, himself an ex-gulf war serviceman, makes some compelling points;
  1. You can innocently drive through a neighbourhood which is in a turf war and get shot, because they assume you're a drive-by shooter.
  2. He's lived in countries all over the world and considers these parts of Chicago to now be third world.
Another of the interviewees says "it's like someone just dropped crates of guns in the neighbourhood", because he;s never seen so many people carrying or so heavily armed. He also says "there a few n****s need to die before it's going to get any better".

It is desperately sad and very worrying. There is no answer. This is the sort of escalation which proves why gun ownership laws do not work everywhere.

I've only just watched this article but the numbers are staggering, utterly appalling. Whilst there is, undoubtedly, horrific police brutality, there is also, sadly, a huge amount of black on black violence going on in some places.

This report, by the BBC, focuses on Chicago where, since 2001, 7916 people have been killed. Yes, they are mostly black.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/video_and_audio/features...

So there is a real dichotemy; who to the police target to spot this and what can be done to stop targeting meaning one law for white and another for black?
That BBC video..
What must it be like for a police officer working in an environment where every young man you stop, or in any way interact with, is likely to have a strong dislike of you on principle as a police officer(perhaps worse if you are black), to be carrying an illegal gun, and to have several like minded friends nearby?

How could you retain a sense of proportion? How could you avoid seeing them as the enemy to be shot down before they kill you? Of course you should, but. If that report is even partly representative of some US communities the surprising thing is that the police can recruit at all.
As a direct result of BLM (and the media stoking the fire), the police have pulled back and the black-on-black murder rate has in turn absolutely soared.

It's ultimately a self defeating organization and the blood of thousands of young black men is on their hands because of their short sighted agenda and a complete inability to control their own communities without the aid of intrusive police tactics.

Sadly, this is spot on.

No idea, but they really do not inhabit the same planet, let alone country as the rest of us.

I agree with Joe Rogan on this one.

No human being is qualified for the role of police officer in the US in 2016. Bring on Robocop.

Anyone want to start a sweepstake on where they'll turn up next.

They've done

Heathrow
London City

my money is on Gatwick......

Are airports going to step up security before someone with more sinister intentions just climbs over the fence in broad daylight??

As for the "protesters" - they'll grow up eventually I suppose.

I'd like to say that I'm shocked and stunned (something these idiots should have been) but I guess it's par for the course. The problem now is that if a black or muslim group tries this and gets banged up.....

JFK or LA X hopefully, see how our American friends deal with such a protest

I don't understand:-

1. How they (white protesters) did not get a custodial sentence (18months is the max? + 5k fine?)
2. How the white woman in particular, didn't get a custodial sentence when this was her 2nd offence of this type (previously Heathrow)
