I suspect the driver will be past caring about what happens to him legally, he has had the worst thing he could have happen to him happen here I expect.
I'm not so sure.

If this was a customer car, I am not sure it will be good for his business. Again, IF.

I'm with J4CKO on this. If I were in those tragic shoes I think the last thing I would give a care to would be the charges I face or the continuation of my business or indeed personal solvency that might follow.

It's an entirely tragic set of circumstances all told. RIP.

Awful.

Does make me think about 10 Pence Short and his prison diary.

That slowed me down right there. And has ever since.

Absolutely sh*t for all concerned.
Fook!

I've never seen that. Looked it up and it is indeed sobering.

For anyone who might have missed it (it's from 2007) it starts on page 3.

That thread should be read as part of the qualification for a driving licence in my view.

Agreed. Is 10PS still on PH or has he moved on?

This is going to get very legally complicated very quickly indeed , I think.
It may get legally very nasty but it won't be complicated. He was driving so there isn't really an issue at hand. It will cost his insurers though but that's what they are there for.

Horrible situation for all involved though.

Shortly after I got my first Griff a guy (a Dr in scientific research IIRC) picked up a Chimaera from Team Central and never made it home, his car found upside down in a ditch the next day.
O/T but I remember that, the A446 just after the Belfry nr Sutton Coldfield. I've been round that bend hundreds of times in my yoof in my MG Metro, delighting at how awesome a corner it is, but easy to get wrong with too much power on tap I expect. Now when I visit my folks I always treat it with a lot more respect, because of that specific accident.
I didn't know that's where it was. I just remember talking to the garage on the 'phone and them being relieved I'd got home safely - then relating the tale by way of explanation.
He was my brother's next door neighbour in Warmley. He was a top AIDs researcher and left a young wife.
Someone stopped the next day after seeing a reflection from the car through the bushes.

His insurer will pay the value of the F50 out to the owner, compensation to the family of the poor young man (albeit this will not do anything material to help them). If he dies then no doubt he has life insurance which will pay to his family.

Not complicated.

I could see it getting complicated.

If the driver owned the F50: was it insured to be driven in those circumstances?

If the F50 was one of the ones being stored as part of the driver's business, I would guess that the business' insurance may well not cover "taking people out for a cheeky ride".

Tragic. Would it have been 1995?

What if he hadn't been authorised to drive it? What if there had been some mechanical work undertaken on the car and it has contributed to the accident. What if his insurers start to ask questions of the landowner and safety of the private road / road furniture etc? This claim will surely be over a million quid, I cannot see it being as straightforward given the circumstances. Christ, it took 4 months to sort out some old dear running into the back of my missus in town!

And on the point about the driver being past caring what happens to him, maybe just at the minute, but once he is back on his feet, his defence will almost certainly begin. Just human nature that.

Maybe time to start a separate "TVR handling traits" thread?

That stopped me going on organised runs, I have had a few and seen a few close calls following others in a group and his thread was the final nail.

There's also a lesson for people about their online profiles; posting any illegal opinions, or posting about doing illegal (and daft stuff) like speeding or drink driving is asking for trouble. Both the police and the press seem very swift in harvesting 'evidence' from online posts.

Overall though, in the case of the OP, this is a horrific accident. All involved have my sympathy.

The speed limits in built-up areas are never wrong.
They most definately are, but we'll save that for another thread.

A mate of mines parents live just near the Lord Derby pub (just behind where that pic is) I wonder if they heard anything!

I mean, its a fairly tight corner if you were planning on taking 2nd exit coming from Hook, but if you wanted to go straight on down the bypass you'd have to go some way to fk it up, I've taken that corner at speed many times! Though perhaps he was properly giving it some...
Brilliant that the Mail manages to get the cost of the car in before mentioning that a child was killed in the incident.

What a rag. rolleyes

Is everyone deliberately avoiding the elephant in the room, or has it already been discussed: does the driver own the car in the crash, or was it a customers?

Isn't it a bit irrelevant?
