How, why, what's it all about? Currents ( don't seem so), no bad weather. Little info on Beeb.

My guess is they are would be immigrants trying to swim ashore from a boat.

Someone online said the hadn't drowned, they had cardiac arrests caused by jellyfish stings. Don't know if that's possible in UK waters, although as a child my mother was nearly killed by a jellyfish.

Not sure I believe this at the moment. As has been said, perhaps it's people trying to swim from a boat. Although people smugglers don't usually report people as missing.

What's odd is that the waters are calm, and that despite these deaths, many people still swimming in the sea....

Based on the many previous occasions such things have happened? Beyond belief you could leap to that theory on no known facts thus far.

It may well be dodgy bks. But there is something weird here. 7 people don't all go swimming in calm sea and drown

Agreed, it is odd, but speculation before anything at all is known, make the theory given somewhat inappropriate IMO.

What's interesting is that I haven't heard the reporters saying things like "they were swept away and drowned" the reports say "pulled from the sea and died".

Usually when someone drowns their death is described as drowning.

Rips a possibility but would have thought life guards would be out ASAP should alarm go up. I doubt for one minute it's the daft immigrant angle and if so very tragic but fascinated to know what caused this.

Some reports said there were no life guards on patrol. Not sure if that us valid.

I did think it had been reported oddly. Looked to be calm waters and the assumption is that if there was a severe rip, life guards would have been on it. And how hard is it to just float on your back and wave your hand?
But maybe a beach that size with that many people on it might statistically support that many total accidents?
