Hi All

So after recently borrowing my friends 16 year old 3.2 SLK for the weekend me and the Mrs have fallen in love with the idea of buying a little 2 seater convertible for a bit of fun.

Question is what to get?

We liked the SLK - mainly for the fact its got a hard top roof - (echos of my late father words saying 'don't get one of those convertibles - they always leak').

We have a budget of upto £5k at the most and I am leaning towards an SLK but recently I have seen a Chrysler Crossfire that looks rather nice.

Im just after your thoughts and opinions.

Crossfire is an old SLK (170) with a Chrysler body shell on top. They're essentially the same car.

171 SLK's are nice, a lot of car for the money now and you should have much less issues with reliability on the newer 171 SLK than the older 170 slk & crossfire cars.

Quite a few options on this one OP.

£5k gets you:

R171 SLK200 "Minter" with a 4pot - not sure how you'd feel about that though.

I noticed a SLK350 here: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

They go well.

My wife has run a SLK 200K for years. It really is good fun to drive.
