He hasn't actually done anything wrong and the part they chose to show from a 2 hour conversation was the most damning when in fact he talks about his current employers and running things past them.

If you asked me how to open a safe and I told you you couldn't call me a safecracker...
Except in Allardyce's case he was employed by the company that designs the safes.

I know little of football but why do we seem to have the same 5 old guys doing rotation as England manager? Do we not have any young up and coming guys with new ideas to bring?

I guess Terry Venebles will be getting a call?

Football. Yawn. Who cares? wink

A corrupt, boring game run by corrupt people. I simply cannot understand the fuss. The national team is absolutely dire, and every English football fan I talk to still harps on about 1066, or whenever it was.

What is the price of a ticket at a match nowadays? I've not been to one since I was at secondary school.

Ha! You clearly don't know much about football as you say.

We don't have any guys doing rotation as England manager.

We had Venables, Keegan, Hoddle, McLaren, Sven, Capello, Hodgson, Allardyce. Never rotated.

Theyre still all old geezers though. Some with dubious managerial history and few fresh ideas. It gives the impression of a rotation anyway. Like I say do we not have any young guns to come in and shake things up? Does it need that?

They haven't all been "Old geezers" though.

The England Manager is never going to be someone in their 30's. Even 40's is young.

The job doesn't involve working with the players on a daily basis, coaching, motivating etc. it's a TOTALLY different role to club management.

You are the top person in the countrys national sport so there has to be an element of maturity and old school.

I think he has always had a bit of a reputation- I remember a radio interview he gave a few years ago regarding some controversy about something or other when he came out with the immortal line "that there is no truth in that fact'"- priceless

Nicked is usually reserved for The Sweeney or similar. What exactly did he get nicked for in your opinion?

The discussion he was having, whilst daft, did actually get covered off with him saying that he would have to run everything past the FA before he did anything.

He got nicked for being greedy and being somewhat dubious. He was always known for being so. What exactly are you having a problem with? I quite liked the bloke.

Thanks for that.

Well he does have a point though. The game has gone downhill since Harold got sacked from being the manager in 1066.

Ironically, I don't have a lot of time for him and agree that he's most likely corrupt. However, the hyperbole around this is quite bizarre. The business side was irrelevant. He didn't do anything, or get paid and he stated that he would have to run everything past the FA.

He got sacked for taking the Micky out of Woy and the rest is just an opinion on what an assistant should do and why a royal should turn up.

I guess my take is different. He didn't behave like the manager of a national footballl side should.

Totally agree that he was stupid and shouldn't have done what he did. However, I think there's been an overreaction by the easily offended too. The only thing he definitely did was insult a former England manager

The Telegraph has teased more revelations but not provided any and what they've teased is the testimony of a disgraced football agent and little more.

I don't think he deserved to lose his job for this.
