Plus, it's worth remembering, in the 2014 Gaza War, the ground offensive by the IDF was not to gain territory. It can't be considered an invasion, but nethertheless, Israel entered on the ground, because they couldn't achieve their objectives from the air (destruction of attack tunnels). Except, they could have achieved it from the air. They would have lost no (or next to no) soliders by attacking from the air. But that would have involved heavy bombing of civilian areas, as opposed to precise demolition charges placed by ground forces. Israeli lives were sacrificed to save Gazan lives.
