Someone's analysis of the Labour Party's strategy to overcome their situation and be elected as a Government:
It's the cheese shop sketch from Python basically.
.
Corbyn : Good morning, Sir. Welcome to the Labour Party Emporium!
Customer: Ah thank you my good man.
Owner: What can I do for you, Sir?
Customer: Now then, some Labour policy please, my good man.
Corbyn: (lustily) Certainly, sir. What would you like?
Customer: Well, eh, how about something on jobs?
Corbyn: I'm, a-fraid we're fresh out of ideas on jobs
Customer: Oh, never mind, how are you on a national apprenticeships system linked to tax reforms?
Corbyn: I'm afraid we never have that at the end of the week, sir.
Customer: Tish tish. No matter. Well, stout yeoman, how about some policy on social housing?
Corbyn: Ah! It's beeeen on order, sir, for two years. Was expecting it this morning.
Customer: Not my lucky day, is it?.. Aah, transport & rail?
Corbyn: Sorry, sir.
Customer: Old age & community care?
Corbyn: Normally, sir, yes. Today the van broke down.
Customer: Education?
Corbyn: Nope.
2 minute later after customer has exhausted all traditional Labour socialist ideas
Customer: It's not much of a Labour Party is it!?
Corbyn: Finest in the district sir!
Customer: Explain the logic underlying that conclusion, please.
Corbyn: Well, it's so clean, sir!
Customer: It's certainly uncontaminated by any Labour policy.
Corbyn: ah , but you didn't ask me about the National Coordinating Group (NCG), the Members Council & the Digital Democracy Platform!
Customer: is it worth it?
Corbyn: Could be.
Customer: Have you in fact got any Labour policy here at all?
Corbyn: Yes,sir.
Customer: Really?
(pause)
Corbyn: No. Not really, sir.
Customer: You haven't.
Corbyn: No sir. Not a scrap. I was deliberately wasting your time, sir.

What a senseless waste of inhuman life.

(Shame there was no Venezuelan beaver hunting with hounds Act or Japanese sage monetary and fiscal policy)

What actually is the Labour Parties economic policy now? Do they just oppose everything ? Surely having ssooundly lost two elections opposing "austerity" they must realise that the public support appropriate spending cuts.

I was reading John Mac's response to the latest spending annoucemebts. The UK will still borrow around £68bn more than it earns this year. Phil Hammond annouces some moderate spending cuts of around 3-6% and Labour go nuts again.

What would they actually do if they were in Government, this failure to recognise that debt remains a serious issue is crazy. Plus how can they say Austerity has failed ? Good growth, high employment rates etc. Which part failed?

They appear to be aiming for the votes of benefits recipients and public sector workers only.

Put taxes up. A lot.

In theory only on "the rich".

But I suspect that would include a lot of their 'poorly paid' nurses and teachers, who would then get a pay rise to offset this.

Then taxes would go up more.

etc.

Are there any actual Labour voters on here anymore who can explain why HM Official opposition don't have a single credible economic policy anymore.

I mean, really what actually is it about "austerity" they oppose ? it not even particularly austere anymore, its a fundamental need to get into budget surplus.

With heroes like Mao Tse Tung and Stalin, I'm surprised Jezza isn't embracing austerity.

I think most of his support comes from lifelong Conservative voters with some smaller pockets of support in Islington.

Smiler.
