It's a coping mechanism. When something so abhorrent occurs, people don't want to believe it so strongly that they persuade themselves that it didn't happen.

It seems a common reaction to news in here, things are a conspiracy, misreported by the media to benefit some group the posters don't like. The posts blaming the girl for making it up as she was probably a truant are disgusting.

I'm glad I wasn't alone in thinking this. By all means if the poor girl turns out to be a fantasist then let rip but at this point surely they must be viewed as a victim of a vile crime

Something doesn't add up.

Not wanting to cast aspersions, but could well be an excuse by the girl for skipping school.

It doesn't fit the normal street grooming abuse type modus operandi as this usually happens late in the evening.
Disgusting to default to this position - it's a 12 year old girl who is randomly knocking on doors for help ffs. Sickos on this thread!

The Police have confirmed that she was raped. The poor girl and family.

Hopefully there's DNA evidence and enough cameras around to catch these filth pronto.

Horrendous. I wish those that committed this crime a life of indescribable agony.

Unbelievably saddening. A friend of mine works with adult victims of this crime. It takes decades to truly get over - if they ever can - many can never put it behind them. This poor girl's life has been ruined. frown

The default position of some on here to always want to call bull and prove its all a swizz (presumably because it makes them feel clever, and like they are a step ahead of everyone else). It's not PH at it's classiest to put it mildly

There are no words to describe this sort of act. The perpetrators need to spend a great deal of time behind bars because of this and even just hearing the horrible headlines of it a whole life tariff feels like the only option.

I don't advocate vigilante activity - mostly because it just ends up with the mob pursuing a vendetta against a group they don't like - someone mentioned E. Europeans earlier for absolutely no reason for example. Not only does this mean some innocent people stand a chance of being caught up, the guilty party then gets away with it - but the mob are happy as they have someone to blame almost regardless of their guilt- to me that is not justice.

When someone is caught and found guilty and they are stupid enough to get within arms reach of her father though, I think whatever response he had would be completely understood (as an understatement and a half).

Yup - extremely distasteful that that's the first response of so many.

I'll just agree with this as I couldn't put it any better.

Some posters on here need to have a little bit of a think about themselves.

Not only has she had to endure this horrendous crime, I can't imagine she will be able to go back to her school now this level of info has gotten out, the family might even have to move house, new names.

These scum bags ought to be swinging from a tree.

lets be honest this is a rare event, more common is abuse that happens daily by family/friends etc, and usually goes unnoticed due to a lot of factors.
