Don't see a problem with this myself. why does it become a hot topic for some? it seems such a small number of people wear a niqab or burka. there's very clear security reasons for why it should be banned.

Glad you started another thread about Muslims/Islam etc.

I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms.

If there's a thread on this in particular i don't mind this topic being deleted and this added to it.

I'd use the clear and obvious subject related thread title to avoid if it bothers you.

Their country, their choice. Understandable really, given the history of the region.

Muslim Bulgarians, who might decide that wearing the Burkha is more important than living in Bulgaria.

Hold on, aren’t we constantly told that the type and degree of head covering is cultural, not religious?

I'm all for non islamic countries (the western world) to ban these outfits. However I do wonder if we'll end up with women literally not being allowed to leave the house. Once the black sheets are no longer available, husband's will just ban them from going out just in case somebody might see their ankle or wrist?

Personally I would ban all religion as why somebody believes a book written when we thought we would sail of the edge of the earth is another mystery to me!

Is it purely the burqa and niqab they're banning? So the women could go around dressed as Buzz Lightyear and be legal for both their oppressive families and the government?

Why would women not be allowed to leave the house - I thought it was freedom of choice as to what they wore ?

That's a question for a muslim. Same reason why she can't be in a room with an unrelated male, men and women can't shake hands, etc etc.

'We' find some of 'their' customs strange - I bet they find many of 'ours' quite odd too.
Surely each to his own??

Coincidently this was in this mornings sky news

An MI5 Agent reveals a suspect tried to evade detection by wearing a Burka coming out of a UK mosque

http://news.sky.com/story/mi5-agent-posing-as-begg...

"There were more woman worshippers that had left the mosque than had gone in, so I alerted the team that there was a possibility he had changed his appearance. The suspect had changed into a burka and was pretending to be a woman. Following him, the MI5 team called in a Special Forces unit to arrest the terrorist. Two Range Rovers slammed into the suspect's car."
