Remarkable, how does a man like Trump become the most powerful person on earth.

Hillary should be put on suicide watch - how on earth could she not even beat Trump. She had more money, the support of the current President, every single living past President, the media, celebrity support, Wall Street etc and still couldn't win.
Maybe people don't listen to the sneering of the left, who have no better argument other than to belittle anyone daring to side with someone else's viewpoint. It sounds familiar to me. rolleyes

Essentially because she is Satan with eye-liner on. Trump is such an obvious pantomime villain that this should have been a landslide.

There will likely be lots of negatives to the decision, but equally there could be some pretty major positives with a bit of luck. The fact I haven't woken up to a mushroom cloud this morning could well be one of them!

WTF? Don't you realise that Trump and Brexit votes are people saying hey are fed up with the existing, skewed, corrupt, elitist controlled version of Democracy? You want to take any vestige of democracy away because you don't like the answers???

'People' are finding some sort of voice. The establishment don't like it 'up em'.
Yeah, but what has changed about the "existing, skewed, corrupt, elitist controlled version of democracy" post-Brexit? Do you feel like you have more of a say now? We aren't even going to be involved in the Brexit negotiations - it's the same politicians whom people thought they were sticking it to that are.

Trump prevailed due to dog whistle rhetoric, and millions of people swallowed it wholesale. The fact he had no political experience at all doesn't even matter.

Pardon me if I'd rather the country was run by people that were actually qualified to do the job, rather than the person who makes the most noise?

(ps the democracy being a bad idea was a joke, sorry it went over your head)
You still don't get it, do you? This IS another protest vote, but ignore the protest votes long enough and real trouble is coming for the lefty-elite. People are speaking and you're not listening, neither are the lefty-liberals and they really need to.

You can make all the excuses that you want, but the true minorities are now finding a voice and they want to be heard.

It didn't come across as a joke, quite frankly.

Let's see how the dollar does today and next few days.

HRC will have had a look at the Brexit wingers and this will be in the Courts by the end of the week. Presume resut by 18th Dec is required, so don't expect it to be final til then!!

Saturday Night Live must be stting themselves, how can they parody the reality, when the reality is more hilarious than anything they can come up with? laugh

TRUMP, TRUMP, TRUMP, TRUMP!!

This is the exact reason she's lost and the same reason we're leaving the EU, people are fking sick of being told by those with power and/or a platform to voice their opinion on how to vote!

How much do people have to suffer, and for how long, for these protest votes though?

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but these votes aren't made in a bubble. We're all suffering the very practical and real effects of our Brexit vote, and whilst it was obviously everyone's decision to make - we've already seen how the promises made (NHS funding being a prime one) were immediately walked back. People are voting for the same lies, only bigger and more damaging.

Gun control. Bye.
Marriage equality. Bye.
Climate change reform. Bye.
Woman's right to choose. Bye.
Criminal justice reform. Bye.

I see that the next president of France, N=Marine La Pen, has already congratulated Trump on his victory.

Has she jumped the gun?

So what do you think will change?

No one in power will relinquish that power, their job / scope / authority will evolve to suit the 'new' version of democracy and so the merry-go-round continues, you are either naive or stupid to actually believe anything will change.

I am all for democracy ... But sometimes you do wonder if everyone is fit to vote.

California not yet reported which would bring her right back into the game

What have I missed whilst everyone seems to be calling it for Trump?

But this is the fallout of the culture of entitlement in our society; not very intelligent and not very well educated people thinking that they can make informed decisions when, patently, they can't

That'll be one reason, of many, perhaps one that swung it.

Now for months of wailing from the psuedo left painting half their country as vile racists, stupid and easily led and other hip buzz words because they're too ignorant and absorbed in their confirmation bias social media bubbles to engage in a critical thinking debate, and simply mentally unable to consider for a moment the election of such a clown as a devastating critique on their own righteous leader.

Maybe that's why a lot of ordinary people voted for him?

Not sure if you haven't woken up yet or you don't understand how this all works.

They called California very early in the night, 55 votes for Clinton. She may win the popular vote, but he has the electoral votes.
