A fairly obvious point. Has anyone tried getting around in America on public transport other than the New York metro? It's ludicrously bad.

Boston and Atlanta metro systems are pretty good. They're even planning on extending the Atlanta Marta to cover a wider area soon.

I'm pretty sure they would have voted for a woman if it had been anyone (and I mean absolutely anyone) except Clinton standing there.

Of this whole debacle I still can't get my head around a country the size and population of the USA only managing to put forward these two fkwits. rofl
The two party system was designed to give the voters the idea that they have some sort of choice .. in reality, both candidates are going to be establishment stooges picked by the higher-ups in the party and given to the ordinary members to endorse.

This time around, the Republican rank and file chucked out the establishment's picks and went with Trump whereas the Democrats ran with the establishment choice, screwing over the rank-and-file's choice (Bernie Sanders) in the process.

They figured that they could just use the mainstream media plus endorsements from the entertainment and tech businesses to get her in anyway. They were utterly wrong.

You'd like to think that the next time around, this would mean an actual popular candidate from the Dems but of course they refuse to acknowledge they've messed up and are blaming anyone and anything, including putting forward bizarre conspiracy theories about Russia.

Really really struggling to see where the worry for tories will be in that. Maybe a vociferous tweet or three?

Aye, appreciate it would have been closer to the election but still. Bit like T Rex steaming through the jungle only to come upon a confused squid, there must be a catch but he cannot see it.

It's an enormous country, outside the city centres public transport is not practical.
It's also the richest country in the world. And it's not just outside of cities.

Why isn't there any reliable public transport in LA for example? Even the BART in San Francisco is a small portion of what it needs to be.

Both of these cities are a nightmare to drive in and would be better served with some good alternative.
Too many roads spread over vast areas ? Dunno just guessing hehe

The one meat rule and no scrambled omelettes with ham will be gone. Now a man can eat like a man should.
By binging on meat once a month or so, and then scavenging for nuts, berries and plants at other times?

Seeing a inexperienced schoolboy writing a political column is worrying enough.

When I was shown around NYC by a friend who is a native, he gave me a great tour and history of the place. The US has always been run as a racket. Back in the day the motor/taxi firms (not sure which), were allowed to buy up all the local bus companies, and the local train ones. Then just shut them, to make everyone dependent on cars. It was a situation that was a back and forth for a long time.
It was a while ago this chat so I can't recall the details.

Just watched the news, something like this happened:

Journalist: the turnout was less than Obama. It's a fact. Fewer were there. The photos show it.
Trump spokeswoman: you are wrong, it was higher
Journalist: but it's a fact it was lower how can you say otherwise?
Trump spokeswoman: I am telling you like it is, the alternative fact
Journalist: ??? There can only be one fact
Trump spokeswoman: grumpy
