You still don't get it, do you? This IS another protest vote, but ignore the protest votes long enough and real trouble is coming for the lefty-elite. People are speaking and you're not listening, neither are the lefty-liberals and they really need to.
You can make all the excuses that you want, but the true minorities are now finding a voice and they want to be heard.
It didn't come across as a joke, quite frankly.
How much do people have to suffer, and for how long, for these protest votes though? You can make all the excuses that you want, but the true minorities are now finding a voice and they want to be heard.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but these votes aren't made in a bubble. We're all suffering the very practical and real effects of our Brexit vote, and whilst it was obviously everyone's decision to make - we've already seen how the promises made (NHS funding being a prime one) were immediately walked back. People are voting for the same lies, only bigger and more damaging.

I fear that, like Brexit, people have voted with the belief that they are somehow upsetting the status quo, when in reality the change democracy gives us is still limited
Apart from making a lot of noise all politicians can really do at the end of the day is spend the tax raised by economic activity in their region. We've had several decades of decline in traditional industries as we exported the jobs to places with cheaper labour. The 2008 crash caused a shedload of capital to go East to join the jobs.
People like Trump, Farage, Salmon and Sturgeon can bang on as mush as they like about making the US/Britain/Scotland "great again" but they can do fk all about the underlying dynamics.
Whipping up mob sentiment gives the illusion of some form of change but that's all it is; an illusion.

This is the exact reason she's lost and the same reason we're leaving the EU, people are fking sick of being told by those with power and/or a platform to voice their opinion on how to vote!
So what do you think will change? No one in power will relinquish that power, their job / scope / authority will evolve to suit the 'new' version of democracy and so the merry-go-round continues, you are either naive or stupid to actually believe anything will change.
I am all for democracy ... But sometimes you do wonder if everyone is fit to vote.

It worked - but now he has to govern. Let's see if the tone changes. He's going to do his acceptance speech in the next few minutes. We will see what the tone is. My hunch is a lot of the rhetoric will be cooled down compared to the past year.

WTF? Don't you realise that Trump and Brexit votes are people saying hey are fed up with the existing, skewed, corrupt, elitist controlled version of Democracy? You want to take any vestige of democracy away because you don't like the answers???
'People' are finding some sort of voice. The establishment don't like it 'up em'.
this ^^^ TBH I think that some of the problem was that HRC is totally repugnant - IMO not as bad as DT, but not a world away. I am sad that either one of them had to win it... HRC struck me as being 'vote for more of the same (even if you don't like whats' happened up til now)' DT worries me massively so I do hope that he'll take advice and be rational.'People' are finding some sort of voice. The establishment don't like it 'up em'.
