And an immigrant. Hopefully, you won't be a victim of Trump's energising of any anti-mmigrant energy in the natives.

I got my permanent residency status honesty and legally. I got my citizenship through serving my country.

Illegals are just that, illegal. They will be kicked out. Whether they are Mexican, Chinese, British etc. There's a reason for immigration laws and they should be followed.

Of course. But it's amazing that, when you stir up hatred for a group, fine distinctions between "legals" and "illegals" can get overlooked by the mob.

Stay safe.

[quote=scherzkeks]You forget that the Dem administration for the past 8 years largely continued policies set by Bush Jr. and his merry band of neocon thugs.

What is Newt Gingrich, Rudy Guallini, Jeff Sessions then? I would call them neo-cons.

Perhaps the Don means what he says, we shall see. I don't see much changing though.

How long will that take, how many will you kick out for it to be deemed a success and who will do the jobs that will be left void?

Good luck with the kicking out.

But you will never be one of them. You'll always be viewed as the outsider, the foreigner, the untrustworthy one. I'd keep that gun loaded and by your pillow, just in case.

You are not American.

You are British.

You live and work in America.

You are no more American the Sting, Sharron Ozbourne, Robbie Williams, Billy Connoly or Elton John mate.

An empty (black) taxi pulled up at PH towers and 5ohmustang got out...

America for Americans!

Eric I'm not sure if you are just winding up Mr Mustang but if not you have an unrealistic view of the States.

English people are quite popular, many of the "the mob" like to trace their roots back to UK and as such are proud of their ancestry.
Where I live the people are not fat and obnoxious, they are polite and so are their driving manners.
Perhaps Britain in 60s & 70s would be a suitable description.

The high street here is very similar to UK without the kebab and nail parlours.

I wonder how well that argument would go down if you applied it to, say, British citizens of Pakistani birth.

The important words were "Where I live". America is a big place and the culture and attitudes can vary quite a bit - as I'm sure you know.

The Stang is saying he has "Permanent Residency". That's not Citizenship - although it can be part of the path to Citizenship.

He's still British - for the moment anyway.

Most people identify their nationality of the country they were born in, grew up in and spent their adult life in. Most not all of course.

Kids in my school see themselves as British or dutch depending on here they were born, there parents though see themselves as Somali or Bangladeshi even though they have lived here for years.

Gets a bit funny with kids who move, but fairly safe to say if you have the accent of your country of birth there is a fair chance you would identify yourself as "Italian" or "French" or as this plastic yank who is a waling cilche of all things American, British.

Check out his other amazing prose on this forum for more insight.

The 1950s?

That appears to be where the UK Brexit voters wanted to return to. Seems Trump supporters are the same.

You have to admit the guy was right about Trump winning, which suggests he has a better feel for the USA than most of the American media smile My view is that if someone has earned the right to citizenship, and has some pride in their adopted country then they have every right to call themselves a citizen of that country. Integration is good.

He said he was a lawful permanent resident and then joined the US military. If you join the military as a lawful permanent resident, you get immediate expedited citizenship, so he is a citizen.

However, fellow citizen or not, he is still an unpleasant redneck ****
