This seems like a bit of a witch hunt for MBS. He's explaining his views, pretty calmly and with a sense of homour it has to be said, given some fairly vile taunting from the likes of tommunster.

What's the plan Tom, keep needling and digging until you get a rise from MBS, and then crow about how aggressive he is, and how he can't take a joke and a winky face?

wink

But it's OK when the rightwingers on PH (most posters) do that to the apparent 'lefties'.

MrBrightSi has strong views but also a profile picture, someone pointed it out and we have ribbed him about it, I have already explained I have some respect for the fact he has stuck to this thread rather than joining the rest of the alt right in the many many anti Islam and anti 'leftie' (basically anyone not a bigot) threads where he would be greeted with open arms.

Stop being so offended on someone else's behalf snowflake.

Not sure if you've followed MBS's posts on this and other threads. They're the ones that are quite vile (IMO of course). For example if you read the one where he feels sorry for the Nazis getting all the blame in Germany, his references to the jackbooted Left etc it's not hard to see where his political leanings are. That's fair enough. Everybody is entitled to their views. It's a free country. That also means other people are free to point out how vile those views may be.

Where did i say any of this. My view comes from a Brit who spent a lot of time there not understanding this continued obsession with beating Germans today with the Sin's of their Grandparents. There is a bigger history of Germany, before Hitler, before Bismark, before Luther and I think that aside from the obvious looking back and re-enforcing of "Never again" on remembrance day, the German angst over the holocaust must end so Germans can have Schlussstrich, a chance to put this behind them and move forward.

Quite where accusations of affiliations or sympathy to national socialism comes into this i don't know.

Maybe i've spent too long on in this cast now and i need to get back to work. How does that saying go about it setting you free?

So how long did you spend in Germany to form this view, I speak with Germans everyday and none of the have an issue with "the sins of their grandparents." it is never even discussed, we don't all dwell in the past.

It's funny that, around the same time, Disney's first famous cartoon character was also called Oswald -

Likewise, I married a German and her family have no issue with their grandparents. They look forward as a nation, IME.

If i think someone is a prat then i'm a bigot?
I don't not like people because of their colour or religion, i don't like them because of their behavior or character. You and MrBrightSi are both white like me but we couldn't be further apart... and yes I don't like you or MrBrightSi's views but maybe if i met you in person we could still get on so long as we didn't talk politics, in fact i know we could as i get on with loads of people daily who if we talked politics it may go sour. That is maybe why forums and the internet is troublesome.

Also lets not forget that there are Germans like me whose Grandparents were Jewish. It's rather offensive to say we dwell in the past, we don't but when certain movements in America use the Swastika and Nazi salute, it is going to draw attention, which is the point of it no doubt. We can't just ignore that.

This guy thought he was MAGA: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-39413694

Thinks... I wonder if the percentage of US military veterans who commit murder is higher or lower than the percentage of muslim immigrants who commit murder? ... (Googles) ... Oh dear, the numbers doesn't look good if our Islam-hating forumites want evidence to prop up their prejudice.

That is also a good example where if a black guy read that article and started spouting off on a forum about "see they are all the same, it's in their culture!" I'd hope he'd be rounded on by the more balanced members of said forum both black and white.
This is what 50stang and MrBrightSi don't understand, if they were black they would be the really annoying militant ones who love the Black panthers. Or if they were Muslim they would be extremists.
As it is they are white so they just happen to be white extremists.

If you wanted to hate any religion, race etc it's really not hard to find examples to back up your hatred..and so becomes the way to terrorism.
