Football alleged abuse

Let's get this straight.
The victim went to the PFA - they did nothing.
The victim went to the police - they did nothing.
The victim instructed a solicitor to ask Chelsea for compensation - they did something. They gave him the compensation he asked for and the victim's solicitor accepted the standard non disclosure clauses.
I can't see where Chelsea have acted badly here. It's the PFA and police that need to come up with answers.
If posters could set aside their football allegiances and stop trying to score petty points and instead focus on the real issue we might make some progress.
I think the PFA will not look good when all this is finished. The victim went to the PFA - they did nothing.

But they have enough cash to make it go away probably.

Why have the police been so consistently inept at dealing with this type of crime?
A cynic might suggest that there are some stories they might like to sweep under the carpet. After all, if there's any organisation that had both perceived respect and privileged access to vulnerable young people in the 1970s, it was them. Considering how widespread child sex abuse was in all echelons of society at that time, I'd be surprised if there weren't policemen involved.

As this story unfolds, remember this phrase "pool parties". I wont say anything else as it might be completely innocent but I will be looking out for this very carefully over the coming months.
Any chance you could give us a bit of a clue what you are on about?hmmm.

With regards to Cyril Smith, the only one I know a bit about, there was pressure from above to drop investigations. I know of one juvenile crime unit that was shut down after producing what, in the minds of the officers in the unit, was a clear case against the MP. The file went missing.I know of officers in a training unit, some of whom had not mentioned his name in class or in discussions, who were threatened not to mention his name again. This was done by the instructors' managers in the tone of 'I don't really want to do this but I've been ordered to'. One officer, who merely told her class facts that were accepted and proveable was threatened with dismissal.
I'm not one to suggest a conspiracy but this was pressure.
There was an interview with a chief whip in the 80s or 90s where it was stated that they get the black, obviously criminal matters, on an MP and then use it to ensure conformity to the party's, or the PM's or even a particular group within the party's wishes on voting or to encourage cooperation in other matters. The CW thought it was rather clever of him.
If such things do go on, and who am I to doubt a chief whip, then it means they must control police investigations and the CPS as well.
It's very different now of course: the chief whip or other mp would not dream of saying so on TV.

When he first went public it was known he had been dismissed from the police for inappropriate behaviour.I don't think rape was mentioned at the time though.
It will be a crying shame if the two issues are conflated and have a negative impact on either of the matters.

Of course he has a right, I just question his timing, it could be seen as commercially motivated.
If he makes a few quid from it then fair enough I'd say.Either way, not a nice position to be in.
