BBC news website now reporting Castro's death. Haven't yet turned on the TV to see if they are playing solemn music on all BBC channels yet. It's not turning out to be a great year for the Left, is it?

They've got the champagne out and they're dancing in the streets in Little Havana, Miami

Can't wait for Trump's first comment about it.

I don't know. He might recognise a fellow revolutionary.

Something businesslike with common sense I would guess...

The lefties will continue to wail and gnash their teeth. 2016 continues to be unfair...

That's my deadpool selection for 2016 gone.... Took his time, not that I particularly wanted him dead though.

Presumably the BBC will endlessly refer to him as a 'divisive' or 'controversial' figure, like they did Mrs Thatcher.

The revolution in Cuba was inevitable, was necessary.

Castro successfully sent many criminals abroad too in the Mariel crisis, something Trump seems keen on.

What the US government tried to achieve on countless attempts but failed nature finally does. RIP. Love him or loathe him he will go down as one of the great revolutionaries of the 20th century.

Red Ken on R4 now fawning over Castro.

The irony of replacing one dictator with another is totally lost on the likes of the bent newt fancier & his ilk - as is usually the case.

Fair play to Mishal Husain showing him up to be two-faced red lefty tt that he is.

Just listened.

Apparently Ken doesn't mind dictators - as long as they are the right shade politically.

No surprises there then.

Well down Mishal Husain for putting him on the spot and make him sound the spluttering fool he is.

And in the end the good old US of A failed to overthrow him, failed to murder him and failed through sanctions to have enough Cubans rebel against him.

Im certain he did some horrible things as I'm certain he came in to power and stopped some horrible things from continuing to happen.
