But there not eating the £5 notes, so where is the difference?

Cheese containing animal products, fine.
Money containing animal products, not fine.
I expect the difference is that you don't actually have to kill a cow to get milk from it - they'd probably not be too bothered if the fivers contained cheese.

I mean, they're being idiots over this, but it isn't inconsistent with serving non-vegan vegetarian food.
Cheese being made with rennet, which comes from the stomachs of calves.

Not cheese in vegetarian cafes.

Not all of it, there are quite a few cheeses which are classed as vegetarian as they don't use rennet.

There are cheeses which don't use it, and there are cheeses which use synthetic rennet.

On the subject of Veggies & Vegans, I totally understand if a vegan chooses not to use anything animal based, i.e. leather shoes, eggs etc. but I have often thought veggies are a bit hypocritical.

I know a few veggies and they own leather shoes, drink milk (dairy) and eat cheese (lots of cheese!)

Am I correct in thinking that the only way to get a cow to produce milk is to get it up the duff? That way ensuring more cattle are produced.
Leather is also a cow by product which could be considered in-humane. Eggs too, they are often produced in battery conditions which many see as cruel.

The list goes on...........coffee
I'm a veggie, I eat eggs, milk and have shoes. Why am i a hypocrite? and feel free to expand that list

Are you a veggie for medical, ethical, moral, any other grounds?

It's a good film - well worth watching.

I simply don't get the whole animal ethics thing where people will use the by products from animals but refuse to eat them.
For example, feather pillows, the duck dies. leather car seats, the cow dies, many pork based products e.g. gelatin, the pig dies.
FWIW, I'm not in to animal cruelty, far from it, I wouldn't want to see any creature suffer I simply don't get why people harp on about vegetarianism but are happy to use the leftovers.
For example I know a woman who is a staunch veggie but will scoff a bag of Haribo in the blink of an eye. When I pointed out the error of her ways she wasnt interested because she is greedy and has an extremely sweet tooth! People who live in glass houses........

I choose not to eat meat or fish for any number of reasons, none of which have anything to do with the health and well being of a cow or an egg.

To be fair thomasjonny69, perhaps your getting confused between Vegans and Veggies, I will let you do the research. Anyways the world isn't always that black and white, if you spot a veggie non conforming to your perception the world, don,t loose any sleep over it, its not worth getting stressed about is it? ..... probably all those steroids in that chicken you just ate making you mad biggrin

You are presumably not overly excercised about the trace amounts of animal fats in the polymer fivers either.
