The other PHs thread about this is 13 pages long. I think you're. a bit late TBH. It started when the news actually broke, a few hours ago. hehe
Yes, but for once F1 is *news*, as opposed to a recipe for high-order narcolepsy.

Hence, justification for a thread in NP&E.

I mean...Jesus....have you even *been* in the F1 section recently? The only reason you can't immediately slip into a merciful boredom-induced coma in there is that the 150 decibels of ambient anorak-rustling means you have to spend time in an ear-bleeding purgatory first.

There's more whining on NP&E than at an F1 GP, let alone the section here!

Props to Nico...

I can totally see why you'd do it. I'd do the same. For some things like motorsport I don't quite get the appeal of winning the same series multiple times. I think I'd like to move on and try something else.

As well, I bet its been a ridiculously stressful few years in the Mercedes camp. I don't think I'd be putting up with the stress and the panto-politics and Lewis for another year either. Nico clearly decided he doesn't need that palaver in his life anymore.

I follow the F1 Grand Prix race threads in the F1 forum, the one for Abu Dhabi was mad when the race ended...... I've had the odd whiney diff over the years so can tolerate a bit of noise but that was something else - actually deleted it from my stuff so I wouldn't be tempted to go back after the dust settled - has it got to vol 3 yet?

Agreed.

The fact that Lewis 'fans' afterwards were saying Lewis lost it due to his engine going in Malaysia and Nico didn't 'deserve' to be WDC, but failing to acknowledge on that logic then Massa was the true 2008 WDC as his Ferrari engine broke in Hungry thus had it not he'd of been champion....

That's the ste he's turning his back on and can't say blame him.

The angst can be great over there, the last time I checked out the Abu Dhabi thread - some time ago admittedly - it was a bad case of Hammy-the-Hero vs Nicola Tossberk. Some strongly held preferences clearly exist...

Seemed to be 50 / 50 split when I exited the thread....... Seems very polarised - black and white with no room for grey.

Reminds me of something just can't for the life of me remember what that was - early onset dementia is such a sheep

I suspect he will be back.

IMO there are no undeserving WDCs and certainly not Nico Rosberg. He looked exhausted and somewhat disillusioned after Abu Dhabi so a year off is probably a great idea.

I don't think it is justification. It's a Formula 1 story; there is a Formula 1 forum, where there was a thread running already, on which many are already engaged. The standard of debate is just something you have to put up with, or if you think it's that bad, try and improve it. Otherwise, you risk forums being completely derailed - witness the thread in General Gassing on increasing aggression on the roads being hijacked by a couple of Remain enthusiasts o blame more roadrage on the referendum result.

Really?! WTF!

ETA quite so, I thought it was after I'd posted but in the end it was before.

The problem is that I would imagine that this thread has been reported on several occasions - linking the F1 thread on the same subject - I did both earlier in the thread.

The Moderators haven't locked it. I'm not saying they are wrong - it is as always their call but just because something is news doesn't make it NP & E when there are more specific forum areas available.

Only thread in GG that I saw has been locked

That's where I have a small concern

Right so I've just looked at the Rosberg (sp) thread in the F1 forum and it's appalling.

As usual, it rapidly degenerated into rival Rosberg and Hamilton fans fighting over which one was better. Some simpletons are irate at Rosberg for apparently chickening out of F1 because he knew he wouldn't ever beat Hamilton in a fair fight. hehe

And what fantastic evaluation of "the news" is being carried out in this thread??

Fair enough. There's less hostility though. What can you say really.? Well done nico, I can see why you did it, or I can't believe he's quit it's because he's scared/rubbish/whatever.
