I believe that when the police get it wrong, the officers involve should face the courts, should be named and should have their faces put on public record.

They just didn't seem, to me, to be very confident in their own skins as police officers

Totally agree with you. Though we have to let our police do their job and if they suspect you of doing something (or being someone who has), then comply with their requests.....

Now the grey comes in....there was no risk of being tasered/assaulted, until he got chippy/physical. What possible harm is there in answering the questions of a policeman?...
Not long after I passed my test I was stopped regularly by the police. I could kind of understand why (it was often when driving late at night with a car full of friends - driving was preferred to drinking for a short amount of time), but either way I saw no issue in answering questions. Even blowing in the bag. I knew I'd done nothing wrong, but 5mins being compliant and proving it seemed a minor inconvenience.
My guess is, from the way you post, that you'd have gone all gangsta and started bleating about your rights...

I'm not convinced they did anything fundamentally wrong here. Maybe the policewoman didn't use the taser properly...I don't know. Maybe there was preamble that would prove it was the police that unnecessarily escalated the situation. I don't know. But from what was on that video I wouldn't be punishing them.
Approaching people in the streets as they have to these days is not something I would relish. And I think we all need to be careful using too much hindsight when being judgemental.

However when I asked his name he refused to tell me so I let him go,

The complaint from the wife's family is dismissed, in fact I think we should actually discipline PC Dobbin here for angering the gentleman by asking such impertinent questions and clearly causing his wife's untimely demise.
