Yep Marine A banged up due to some Officer Dibble wkstain sticking his nose in where it didn't belong. Of course I'm sure it's the case that no plod has ever bent or broken the rules.

Just another symptom of all that's wrong in this country.
He was banged up for murdering somebody.
He was banged up for murdering somebody who five minutes earlier was trying to murder him.

You've been in that position I imagine? Tell us how you reacted.........

Shooting in a direction and accidently hitting someone you are not supposed to is a fk up.

Deliberately murdering someone point blank isnt a fk up. Its no different to any other murder. Possibly worse because they are professional killers who should know explicitly what they are capable of and who they shouldnt be killing.
You'd know of course, from your time as a frontline combat soldier.
HM forces saw fit to give me a uniform & a weapon once upon a time. I presume from your comments that this will give my opinion some weight.

I agree with what p1stonhead wrote. YMMV.
Frontline combat infantry unit were you?

Ok then, Rambo. You're in a firefight. Rounds incoming. Eventually your unit (squad/platoon/company/battalion/whatever) starts to gain the upper hand. Eventually the enemy crack. Up goes the white flag, and they walk towards you with their arms raised.

I presume you machine-gun them to death?

I don't know about the specifics of this particular case but I do know I wouldn't join the forces or police for love nor money these days. These men and women are put in extreme circumstances (sometimes with inadequate training/equipment/backup) that most of us could barely imagine and when they fk up we seem to judge them by the 'lock em up and throw away the key' standard of justice.

Of course there have to be rules for professionals in this line of work but there also has to be some understanding that any person could crack or lack 'moral courage' under these circumstances and sentences should be issued according to that and to risk to the public of re-offending.

LOL - he's probably watched Platoon a couple of times like all the other experts on here.

If you've served in the armed forces of this country, you may have a valid opinion. I have.
If you haven't, then anything you think you know about this case is quite frankly bks.
Utter unfiltered bullst.

So any judge or jury in this country can't judge on a case unless they do the job of the defendant?

Jesus people like you lot are terrifying stupid. You are unfit to serve in our armed forces in my civilian opinion which matters exactly the same as yours does.
Yep, you know, you have done the job, after all. People like you should be conscripted, do the job, then judge others. Would be fair I think.

I presume if it were you, standing there with the blood and guts of your dead mates around you, you'd break out the tea and cucumber sandwiches? Maybe get everyone to join in a couple of choruses of Kum ba ya?

'Machine gun them to death' - well I'm not going to machine gun them only to serious injury am I.......?

So how many people is a soldier/marine/matelot/pilot be allowed to murder before a civvy can legitimately point out that it's wrong?

No. Even so, we had these rule things explained to us, including what would happen if we broke the rules.

This guy knowingly did wrong and therefore deserves the consequences. Simple as that.

Yes. In the middle of a firefight if the enemy suddenly threw up his hands and stopped trying to kill me, I'm afraid the die is already cast and that st won't work.

So what about you - cucumber sandwiches and Kum ba ya?

He notes that a police officer was "sticking his nose in where it didn't belong".

The officer was investigating a crime. I'm fairly sure "sticking your nose into peoples things" while investigating them for a crime is fairly normal practice.
Yes - but the dibbles weren't investigating Blackman at the time. They were investigating an entirely different matter concerning another Marine when they came across the footage on the laptop. Why didn't they just let it lie instead of then investigating a whole other matter about which most of them probably no nothing about.

The same types of dibble who upon retirement go to work for for organisations like Red Snapper investigating spurious claims against servicemen in Iraq etc. All the while profiting from this countries Legal Aid budget whilst simultaneously undermining the country. You couldn't make it up.
Ignore video of someone being killed complete with commentary?? attempts had been made to delete the footage

'Someone being killed' ??
We are not talking about an innocent member of the public here. We are talking about an armed insurgent who moments earlier was trying to kill British troops AND who was apparently already mortally wounded.

Some perspective required here I think. If anything it was a mercy killing.

Keep repeating cucumber sandwiches and kum ba ya all night. It's just extra effort.

The mark of a good unit is discipline, both in and out of battle. I've no idea what I would do but what I would WANT to do is immediately recognise my responsibilities under the Geneva Convention, and my responsibilities as a professional. Which is why, in the vast majority of cases, our phenomenal armed forces don't go round killing people after they've surrendered, even if moments before they've been trying to kill them.

You show no similar attributes, You sound like you'd make a st soldier. Uncontrollable. Not a good sign.

Surrendering Romanians. Iirc. It was a very subtle yet skillfully made part of the film. They speak in Romanian.

I'll simply say this. Colonel Ollie Lee, possibly the most highly regarded Royal Marines officer of his generation, resigned in protest over what happened with respect to this incident. He believes that Blackman was treated unjustly, but he certainly believes that what Blackman did was wrong. But if you looked him in the eye and told him that you see no problem killing prisoners, he'd call you a .

How do I know that? Because I worked with him.

You are wrong, and the less people like you on the front line the better. It would make a difficult job much more difficult.
