Exactly. "It's the Russian's fault the DNC rigged their primaries to try and elect a neocon."
Given the CIA appear to think the Republicans were hacked, but whatever was found hasn't been revealed yet, I would have thought the repebs and/or Trump would like to know about that.

Yep. If true, had their own game played back at them.

Salvador Allende must be having a chuckle.
About 5 years ago I listened to a radio interview by a Brit with a retired deputy head of the CIA. I'm sorry I can't remember the names.
Anyway, eventually the interviewer got right under the skin of the spam who through gritted teeth admitted that yes, the USA would do anything to safeguard their interests.
They had interfered and influenced directly the outcome/overthrow of over 12 democratically elected governments throughout the world.
When I read or hear about them being the leaders of the free world ... god help us all.

Kind of ironic that the CIA, an agency which has a well documented history of interfering and interrupting the workings of democracies all around the world, is now investigating the US election.
Quite.

Isn't every election influenced by outside sources? Do CNN or Fox have advertisers or shareholders who are linked to foreign governments? I know TYT (who were rabidly pro-Clinton) get funding from the Qatari government.
I seem to recall Obama wading in on the Brexit debate, sauce for the goose and all that.

Does it really come as a surprise to people that this sort of thing goes on constantly and pretty much everywhere?

We have no idea what the CIA think. They have been evidently anti Trump for a while now.

The alleged source for this whole story isn't even the CIA, it's an anonymous government official who heard about a secret CIA briefing based on undisclosed evidence.

On a lighter note.

It's worrying how Trump is simply dismissing, mocking even, a fact based narrative provided by the intelligence agencies. He's only been to a handful of the intelligence briefings since becoming president elect, so what else is he ignoring because it doesn't suit?

Eventually Trump will have to realise that as president he will have to work with these agencies he is so happy to belittle.
Who needs briefings with the CIA when you have your own 'extremely credible sources'.

Don't worry, when Trump gets his feet under the table he can hush it all up.

Oh no, Russia should be very careful because Obama isn't happy. Let's hope, for Russia's sake, POTUS doesn't make this a red line issue because then we'll know he's uber-serious about his threats.

Barack Obama has warned that the US will retaliate for Russian cyberattacks during the presidential election.

According to extracts of an interview due to air on National Public Radio on Friday morning, the US president said he was waiting for a final report he has ordered into a range of Russian hacking attacks, but promised there would be a response.

A very well written piece below from the NYT about the hack. It's incredible how stupid the D.N.C folks and Clinton's aides were in all of this. They could have put a stop to it all as soon as the FBI informed them that their systems were compromised but they did nothing for almost a year because they thought the warning calls from the FBI were hoax calls lol.

Even the methods used to "hack" various email accounts were incredibly crude - they were the type of phishing emails we see from Nigerian scammers.

John Podesta, Clinton's campaign manager, once wrote a report on cyber security for Obama yet even Podesta fell for the phishing scam. laugh

Ha!

"Hello, this is the FBI... no, really, I am from the FBI, no, its not Fred from accounts I am from the FBI...."

Would there be a more formal approach or are they outsourcing the FBI to India?

Quite apart from the farcical approach to emails and internet security from a supposedly savvy political outfit, this is still a Dem diversion exercise with Obama posturing away as though he matters.

"we didn't really lose to the joker we've been lampooning and writing off as an unworthy and unelectable opponent, them darned roooskies lost it for us"

laugh

Off you go BO, close the door on your way out.

China targets the records of 18 million Americans (the OPM hack) = no consequences.

Russia hacks the DNC (which isn't even a government body) = sanctions.

The Obama administration on Thursday announced its retaliation for Russian efforts to interfere with the US presidential election, ordering sweeping new sanctions that included the expulsion of 35 Russians.

And the response from Russia... https://www.facebook.com/POLITICOeu/posts/96915050...

You'd think if Trump was a Russian stooge the best fk you to Obama would be to do nothing and welcome the change of administration, "look forward to a reset"'sort of thing, or better yet if he isn't a Russian stooge but make it look like Trump's his man & unsettle the cosy US neocon elite is again, to do nothing. Of course perhaps in geopolitical alpha male/strongman, willy wagging that would look like an admission of guilt, while kicking 35US personnel just looks like old business as usual.

Looks like Obama is just trying to create as much butt hurt for his successor in his last few weeks (and not very "they go low, we go high"/presidential)

When I saw this on the news last night I thought it seemed simply like st stirring by an outgoing administration.

I don't know what you're supposed to do in these circumstances but making a mess for your successor to clear up in two weeks time doesn't feel like it.

I'm glad that I am not the only one to think that all this is incredibly hypocritical.

How many foreign governments has the US interfered in?

The irony is they are probably as bad as each other.

Edit. For that matter, probably most governments are guilty.
