For me, it has to be "I can't make you love me". What a voice. Special meanings too on getting together with my current beautiful lady, who I never thought would fall for me... but I waited, and thank goodness she did.

Live unplugged. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QbWJO8RMg1A
Another vote for this one. The message, the emotion and delivery all perfect. Also from that video he was one of the very few artists who sang as good live as on record. Having seen many who are held in high regard who could not sing anywhere near there recorded version he was one who could deliver time after time and in many styles. His voice had real purity.

He bought the "John Lennon" Piano for £1.45mil so it would stay in the UK and it resides in the Beatle Museum.
What I find extraordinary is whilst he clearly had some difficult times he always seemed to find time to think of others TOP BLOKE.

And as this is PH - his recent ish car collection is aspirational / exquisite.
Maybe not relevant for this thread but Andrew Ridgely was more into cars than GM and tried his hand at racing in the UK Renault 5 Turbo cup when it first came out - a tough series to race in for a novice.

'Fast Love' was, for me, what makes a great record. It sounds st when you first hear it when released, you can't get into it and think, 'bloody hell, that's a bad one George'.
But then it grows on you. The songs great.
And I always wanted that chair with the speakers built in it!

Seem to recall he bought Gerri Halliwell a rather nice gullwing Mercedes.

I watched the concert last night, but I must admit that if he hadn't have died, I wouldn't have! But, that was a touch of class! Really enjoyed it.

I probably dislike more of of his music than I like, but I love A different Corner, Somebody to Love, and Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me!

Nothing like using the Death of somebody to try and get your own name in the Papers.. Andy Kershaw really BBC's token Northerner.

It's as valid a view as any other.

Far as I can see, most seem to be praising his private donations, charitable activities and personality at least as much as his musical talent. Something Kershaw fails to mention.

Fleeting?

Fleeting is the career of X-Factor contestants. 30-odd years isn't 'fleeting'.

Andy Kershaw is exactly what's wrong with the BBC.
The BBC were on about John Peel(as they always are) on facebook, I pointed out that in his early years he was quite a pioneer for new talent but in his latter years the music he played just catered for spotty students in bedsits, his loyal followers including Steve Lamacq and the other BBC attack dogs were soon on my case, I told them if they ever got into music give Aja by Steely Dan a listen.

No - that's the problem with Andy Kershaw.

I don't think he works for the BBC these days, does he?

What a really nice chap he is - whatever this tool thought about GM why if not that great to read would he put it out there for GMs friends and family to read?

He must be suffering badly from a brain fart

Andy has had quite a few demons of his own to sort out over the years - as a cursory look at his Wiki page will reveal.

Hmm.

How did he manage to make sure his 'private' donations became public?

Very subtle.
