The post-mortem is 'inconclusive' apparently. Is it a bit strange that they can't figure out what he died of?

It's not always clear what finishes a person off.

Not really strange - happens quite often. They'll now do additional tests and see if they shed any more light.

I was never a George Michael fan myself, but I visited Goring today, as my family often did when we were kids. It's a lovely spot. My wife and I got married across the river in Streatley so we continue to visit at least once a year.

It was much busier today, and quite moving. The photo below being taken about 10:30 this morning, with a steady stream of fans continuing to arrive every few minutes, many in tears...

Does it even matter?

Back on topic; I feel lucky that I've met him twice. Down to earth, pleasant guy who made world the better place with his music as well as his acts of kindness.

RIP.

That's the "tradesmans' entrance", the main facade was on the river.

It's a really lovely house.

You'll get accused of being homophobic with posts like that! smile

It is and it's actually very well hidden.

I used to live down the road in Pangbourne and saw him a few times in the Miller at the bottom of the high street in Goring - about a minutes walk from his house. He was very unassuming and private and would chat to locals quite happily from what I understand.

He had a great voice and was amazing with Aretha Franklin, but that and Edge of Heaven and Outside were the only 3 songs i liked- the rest did nothing for me.Still a huge loss- and for his dedicated fans ,future Xmas's will be very hard to take.

Not personally a George Michael fan but he did seem (so I have read) to be a decent man.

No real fan of his or a hater, more that his music was a symbol of changing taste for me.
Every year one of the radio stations did a Christmas countdown of the top 100 songs of all time. Led Zep and Stairway was always the winner for years and years, then one year it was George Micheal after that it was him or someone similar with what was for me forgettable pop songs for kids. Yes, I'm happy to be a miserable git listening to Planet Rock now.

Couldn't get to sleep last night so was browsing youtube.

He really did have a great voice, even live is voice sounded as if it was from a studio recording. The bit at 5.55 is fantastic and only 21 at the time.

And to think that at such a young age he had the balls to produce his own version of CW was fantastic. The original Wexler version, time wouldn't have been kind to it all. Sounds cheesy as hell.

Honestly this kind of bullst annoys me - unless you personally interacted with the guy day in day out then you wouldn't notice any difference in your day-to-day life beyond a fleeting memory when his music track is played.

Passing of people is sad, but the time a random celebrity death impacts you on a day to day basis beyond the immediacy of hearing the news (maybe even a couple of days after), then that is the time to seek medical help...as either there is something wrong with you or you have been very lucky in life and have not experienced any kind of trauma which helps give you the context, in which case you may well just be finished off when that time unfortunately comes.

Now I know that will probably go down like a lead ballon, but GM was a great singer, kind man, well liked and it's sad he has gone - but I'll be damned if next Xmas I lose my appetite to eat turkey because of it !!!

It seems that they have only been revealed after his death. That *is* private.
You seem to have a misunderstanding of the meaning of the words "private" and "public".

But hey ho, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter.
Then why did you bother to bring it up in the first place?
Haters gotta hate!
Some people just get off on pointless point scoring and are best ignored.

I think this sums up why George Michael was so loved. Whether you liked his music or not, this guy was a true showman and a great singer. He had the audience in the palm of his hand here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYkE3vpWJjYsmile (BTW, some swearing so NSFW wink)

Yeah, I agree, Last Christmas for me is like a warm blanket of a song, takes me back to being a kid, I love it but whether the chap who sang it is still alive makes very little difference apart from a slight sadness, not really of his passing but more remembering I am getting older, it is a rather cheesy, but wonderful song though.

Was out for NYE and a Wham song came on, as usual the dance floor filled up but it was mainly forty somethings, I was never a fan in the day but those songs are burned into my mind, they are great, feel good, pop songs.

It isnt concern for George Micheal, sad though it is, it is our childhood dying off that bothers is.

I can see a series of questions being asked of Mr Fawaz starting with - "Can you tell us where you were and what you were doing on the night George Michael died?".
