George Michael RIP
Discussion
Bit of a thread resurrection on this, my mrs took me to see Fastlove, the George Michael Tribute this week and the guy who played George was fking unreal. Incredibly impressive!
No one is going to have GM's reach IMHO and admittedly he was obviously better at the belters from his back catalogue as the softer vocals featured less-but only just mind. Jesus to a Child was pretty much as good as I remember GM doing it and how many can replicate that?
A great show that anyone who misses GM's live performances should see.

Not for me thanks, I like the real thingNo one is going to have GM's reach IMHO and admittedly he was obviously better at the belters from his back catalogue as the softer vocals featured less-but only just mind. Well, it is a strange experience the whole "tribute act" thing. Don't get me wrong, he literally had them dancing in the aisles, all while I was sat there watching slightly bemused as, well let's be honest, a slightly overweight man pretended to be someone else.
But if you can suspend your belief in the real (a bit like when you go and watch a star wars movie or something) he was stupendously good at replicating what GM sang like.
However, if you're expecting something like you'd see in a family bar on the Costa Del Sol it couldn't be further from that. It was apparently a West End show before going on tour, I'm not sure if that adds any validity to it and the saxophonist was GM's guy who played with him but all I'm saying is if you liked GM's voice it is well worth seeing.

Name is Marc Martell and he is a Freddie Mercury tribute singer - this is one of his very early trials in his spare bedroom with terrible acoustics and equipment. He was good then, he is brilliant now. Not original Freddie brilliant but good enough to stand in:

Obviously the original is always the best but I've seen this bloke live and he is as near as it can be to the man himself.

Very sad indeed, I assume she took her own life but obviously that’s just conjecture on my part.
It’s bizarre. My wife and children, I’d think about it. My brother, not so much. Let alone the obvious. Where’s the network around clearly fragile people and with huge resources. A waste of life. Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
