Why do you think he put that address down?

I don't normally like to make predictions, but given the Labour party are fielding this twit, I simply cannot see them winning. TBH, even if you were anti-Brexit, this guy's Tweets come across as the rantings of a six-form common room socialist, not a modern, informed and intelligent politician. I can't see the people of Stoke voting for this.
Wonder if he posts on PH?

Most people are just happy to breathe again.

Great that Labour are getting all indignant about UKIP parachuting in a higher profile political insider who isn't from Stoke to fight the by election to replace Tristram Hunt, born and raised in Cambridge son of Baron Hunt of Chesterton, former leader of Labour in Cambridge.

Polling that's actually worth looking at for this by-election is out.

UKIP: 39%

Labour: 33%

I wonder if the media will be touting a UKIP win as a thumbs up for hard Brexit like the Lib Dem win in Richmond was apparently the opposite? rolleyes

I'm torn really. He's a contemptible individual, but him getting the Stoke post means that us residents in Newcastle under Lyme no longer have to deal with him.
I understand that there may be strategic voting going on anyway to ensure Labour don't get in. Stoke seems to be wearing it's 'Brexit Capital of the UK' badge with pride. I am not sure I understand why, but I am probably out of touch with the rank and file Stoke populace.

Why do you say that DD?

If those hilarious retarded tweets are an indication of the measure of the Labour candidate then Even money on UKIP could indeed look very good value if momentum is turning their way.

It was a reference to a post on the thread a few days back where I heard of polling saying Ukip was ahead, but which I then said was pointless when I learnt the sample size was of around one hundred. This one has a sample size of four thousand, so worth looking at.

Unbelievably stupid of them to even bring the matter up, isn't it?

TBF, I suppose, from your perspective, it's all pretty amusing either way? I do sort of see why Stoke feels disenfranchised - compared to near neighbours, it does not seem to have fared as well and that alone, notwithstanding any immigrant issues (I've no idea whether they exist or not, or are even perceived by many to exists for that matter) could be enough to form the basis of strong protest voting.

Seems Nuttall is trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory this week.

By putting a false address on his application form, whether or not he intended to live there he could be subject to a ban from holding elected office (including being an MEP) for 3 years.

Oh UKIP, you just can't get this politics thing right, can you.....

This'll be the same Paul Nuttall who in an interview got Anglophile and Anglophobe mixed up. Which, for the leader of a party that is all about the UK, and in an interview in which he was espousing our ability to build great trading relationships with other countries, seems a bit of a basic error.

People in Stoke will be voting for a Party rather than a person so Nutty, for all his amateurness, stands a very good chance of winning just because of his party.

The flip side of that argument is that if Nuttall doesn't win it now he's going to look like a right tit.
Doesn't he look like one anyway?
Has he borrowed Farage's wardrobe since becoming leader, Or has he always dressed like that?

I wondered the same thing - that tweed suit was despicable.
