I find peoples use of the word snowflake infinitely more irritating than anything the DM has ever written.
Christ that words bloody everywhere at the moment.
Agreed. More and more people jump on the wagon, widening its use until it becomes nothing but a noise as they saturate any impact or focus the word ever had in the first place. Christ that words bloody everywhere at the moment.

Why is he referred to as a comedian? I went to see his live "show" once, it was fking awful. The 1st half was dire then the 2nd half was a lecture about Coca Cola stealing water and even less funny more like a 6th form sociology lecture. He had the nerve to question why I was leaving...so I told him.
I saw a few clips of his shows maybe 20 years ago and thought they looked good. Booked some tickets for a live show and it was the most disappointing comedy show I've ever seen. It was just an anti-capitalist rant. Not funny. Not clever.ChemicalChaos said:

Bet you won't like his new stuff then.THE RED SHED
A Topical Tale About The Miners' Strike
A brand new show celebrating the 50th anniversary of Wakefield Labour Club's iconic Red Shed.
It's the story of where Mark first started to perform in public and where he politically came of age as a student involved in the miners’ strike.

It's by a comedian ("Mark Steel's in Town" and "My Life in Serious Organised Crime" are hilarious), but it's not a joke.
It's saying :
"If you read this newspaper, you are in a minority. A pathetic, filthy minority that ought to be ashamed of itself, and stay away from decent, proper people. A minority which needs to be derided, marginalised, and forced to shut up and hide itself before dying quietly out. A minority which, should it attempt to defend itself, will be attacked using the foulest possible language and epithets, and probably the odd brick, stick, and fist too, because that's what it deserves."
And that is right out of the NSDAP manual.
If anyone doubts this, I can commend "The Gestapo" by Frank McDonough for bedtime reading. An eye opening history of how a perfectly ordinary police force and public was co-opted by a regime with exactly this sort of messaging. It's saying :

The mail may be a rag, but that is the beauty of a free press.

Which, ironically enough, is what the Daily Mail says every day about some group or other. "If you read this newspaper, you are in a minority. Cue, however, hundreds of "liberals" wetting themselves with amusement over this whilst failing entirely to see their parallels to the Nazi book bonfire
The real irony for you in your comment is that the Daily Mail fully supported the blackshirts, especially it's "Hurrah for the blackshirts" article. Viscount Rothermere (Harold Harmsworth) was a known supporter of Hilter.Alternatively, its just a bit of fun and nothing like a national socialist book burning orgy. Hard to tell I know.
The Daily Mail seems to have a bad rep - having read this thread, and also reading about the campaign group who are trying to persuade large companies to stop advertising with the Mail. I don't read newspapers, but I often find myself reading something on the Daily Mail website - usually via Google Now or social media.
Some of the stuff they write is clearly copied (with minor embellishment) straight from the internet - e.g. someone working there seems to be a fan of Reddit, and they can also turn a single YouTube clip in to an entire story
But they're certainly not alone in reporting what people post to social media as "news", so I'm genuinely curious as to what the general problem is that people have with it as a newspaper?
Is it because the articles they print on certain sensitive subjects are largely seen as "fake news", or is it more that the articles have an element of truth about them, but never the less paint immigration (or other liberal ideals) in a negative light, so are seen as being unhelpful to the cause? Or is it something else altogether?

Reminds me of a few years ago in a previous job one of our managers trying to ban the break room cook from supplying the Scottish Herald and the National in the break room alongside essentially every other broadsheet. (this was not long after the '14 Scottish Indy ref)
Sadly the outcome of that was that all pertinent broadsheets (Guardian, Times, Telegraph, national, herald etc etc) where banned in favour of only tabloid drivel (Sun, Record, DM) being allowed to avoid 'disagreements'. He quit not long after that funnily enough, it was an awful place to work.
