Hi

I am in the process of mounting a few tablets on the walls around the house to control the lights and heating. The idea is to have the cable hidden as much as possible.

Is it possible to get an "in line" socket and to use the lighting ring to power it?

Thanks
Nick

Difficult as lighting cabling is usually in the ceiling and wiring to the switch is only single pole.
At work we've just put a few of these in normal mains ring circuit!

Chase the walls out and fit a single gang backbox in the wall. Run a cable like 8 core alarm cable back to a central point in floors or loft.

Work out which pin is the 12v charging ones. (google) wire cabling onto a 12v supply then cut off a usb charging lead and wire onto the 8core cabling in the back box. Mount tablet over the backbox. Job done

At least in my head lol

Edit- its actually 5v and its pin 1 and 4.

Hi
We have individual feeds for the lighting, so we have a 3 core going to the light switch with the N and E joined with the L acting in the switch. with the 3 score going back to the light. If that makes sense...

i just wanted to by a simple powered usb plug to go into the wall to power a tablet

thanks
nick
