Wouldn’t it be great to be able to have a political discussion without people needing to throw words like snowflake around ...

I’ve gone for one term - I think he’ll not be able to do most of the stuff he said on the campaign trail and will get bored with the whole thing.
Serious question - what does snowflake refer to?

It's the new American catch-all insult for invalidating someone else's point.

No I'm not pro TPP and never have been as it would be a way for your awful American health insurance companies to eviscerate the NHS and apply your inefficient and poor healthcare to be foisted upon us. It'll be interesting though to see if China takes the US place in the TPP group as suggested by Australia.

Now can you answer a question?
So you support Trump's withdrawal from TPP. Thank you.

Perhaps next time save us your rant on the man's appearance and stick to responding to the question.

The question is how long Trump will be President, according to the thread title. If you want to act as thread moderator then why not start your own thread?

So you can't answer the question? Is that cowardice or inarticulacy?

If you wish to apply puerile epithets like snowflake, be careful as they seem more applicable to someone like you who cannot answer a question, or cannot prevent themselves from defending the indefensible because of their partisan politics.

That would be TTIP rather than TPP, no?

Yes but principles are similar.

But this thread isn't about you and your question, no matter how much you try to make it so. As I said, why not start a new thread so that it can be the sole topic of debate?

We were not discussing that as you well know but seem unable to actually provide an answer to explain your hypocrisy. It speaks volumes.

Two seperate items. Trump undid TPP, TTIP is a proposed agreement.

Indeed - don't see how TPP can gut the NHS unless we all move to Australia.

I thought it was interesting that ISDS mechanisms only became an issue with the left when the counterparty was the Great Satan. Whiff of knee-jerk anti-Americanism?

He's against both, and the principles of why he's against both are the same. I think you'll find ttip has been an issue for many months.

Four of the past 5 US presidents have served 8-year terms.

Trump is quite old, and the post takes a major physical and mental toll, so it remains to be seen whether he can hack the pace beyond 1 term.
This. One term, most likely. You never know, though...

Thanks, don't think I'll be using it myself. How does it differ from trolling then?

Calling someone a snowflake (or "precious little snowflake") implies they are cosseted, have been insulated from the "real world", have easily bruised egos, thin skins, are overly-sensitive, and you must go easy on them for fear of upsetting them.

Somewhat ironic in the context of this thread really. smile

The snowflake analogy is quite weak since those that items that fall as snow are genuinely fragile, beautiful and short-lived. The regressed 'progressives' that the label refers to are actually totalitarians trying to manipulate everyone with tears, tantrums and torment.
I can't comment on that, but I mainly see it being used to shut the other person down where you don't agree with their opinion - its effectively an ad hominem attack, or a personal insult at the very least.
