She should have simply replied, "Of course I knew about it; I'm the Prime Minister."
Everyone seems to assume she did know. I think it's possible that she didn't - when you're the boss, especially the new boss, no-one wants to tell you anything bad. Admitting that she didn't know would look much worse.

While Andrew Marr was desperately trying to have his Paxman moment, he wasn't asking his next killer question. Easy win for TM.

Eventually she could have used the national security line, but they ran out of time first smile

The reluctance to answer directly is to avoid 'original guilt' or being associated with the disaster merely because you were the first to acknowledge it - despite it being after the fact. The 'not me guv' default. Theresa is obviously not very good at that diversionary tactic. She'll learn though.

The reluctance to answer just shows how incompetent she is, shes had 7 years in goverment you wouldve learnt by now. If she hasnt learnt she will never learn

A flippant reply could have been something like..........would you like me to tell you the nuclear weapons launch code while I am at it Mr Marr?

Or the fact that despite 7 yrs in government she's not practiced at avoiding questions as she's usually answered most of them........

The odd thing is that those countries that would be interested in whether or not there was a misfire already know.

Exactly. And yet they didn't make a big deal of it because Trident is the most reliable and most tested ICBM system. None of the others are even close.

Not at all.

Quite the reverse in fact.

It demonstrates a high level of competence.

Why should she disclose matters of national security?

If you don't like the way she conducts herself, then why did you vote for her party?

And this is why I am looking forward to Trump. I imagine him to say " Well I am not going to tell you if it was am I?"

Sometimes, just sometimes, the sheer banality of self-important 'interviewers' with inflated egos, coyly asking questions they know people can't answer directly, is a total waste of footage. The opportunities to probe attitudes and intentions with some intelligence that could lead to genuine insight into relevant matters abound for the professional journalist, rather than vain poseurs seeking to get their name on awards. Politicians get regularly slated for their mediocrity, especially when their hands are tied, to be knowingly cornered by a sneering journalist is too easy. A soft target when you know the score is pathetic.

^^^^Blimey, no wonder she wanted to bring back grammar schools.

Anyway, the moment she's with Trumpy this non-news story will all be history. That'll be this Friday!
