The odd thing with that programme, unique to it I think, is that we had a man speaking English with an accent that mimicked the accent of an Englishman speaking French. However, despite speaking English we knew he was speaking French, and speaking it poorly. The way we knew this was because he said, among other words, moaning when we assumed he meant morning, despite saying it at any time of day, or night come to that. The chap also spoke English when we knew he was speaking English. I think I've explained it.

If you thought about it it all fell apart. At times is was all but incomprehensible, but it worked. The writers were superb but the actors, in the main, justified their places.

Kaye was the cornerstone. He seemed to do it with little effort.

One of the classic TV comedy series. It was remarkable.

I remember being on holiday in France seeing Allo Allo on TV , dubbed in French. I wonder how that worked..

Advertising hording blown down in a storm. 27 years ago, that makes me feel old.

I saw one of the first life performances in Leeds after he was back working. He owned the show every moment he was on stage. So sad that he cannot come back as his own twin brother.

How sad.

A great actor with an abundance of talent, one that shone brightest in that sitcom, as was said earlier, from the great age of BBC comedy.

Always enjoyed allo allo as a kid. It was good fun.

Saw him is a play once - a farce of some description with Vicki Michelle and Ken thingy from Coronation street - him with the colourful glasses and double glazing ads

You could see Ken Safestyle look visibly put out when he got no cheer on appearing and Gorden Kaye got a massive cheer.

I watched 'Allo 'Allo as a kid, and found it funny on a "silly" level.

But watching recent repeats on Yesterdave ( or whatever) I realised how well written it was.

I even saw the last ever episode, which ( without spoiling it) saw a couple of things fall into place.
