My handbrake warning light keeps coming on intermittently and giving me an alarm as I'm driving along. I'm pretty sure it's the switch that detects when the handbrake is released as everything seems to be working as it should.

I've lifted the gaiter on the handbrake lever and the switch does seem to be intermittent, so that seems to be the likely cause.

Does anybody know the part number or an equivalent part so I don't have to go through the pain of explaining to a Vauxhall dealer what the car is and that no it isn't a people carrier or a commercial vehicle...

I can always give the 'Fish a call on Monday if nobody has any info to hand.

Thanks!

Good idea, I will give that a go. Looks like a bit of a mare to get out, I am hoping it doesn't need the seat taking out.

Thanks

Did you sort the handbrake switch?
Have got same problem, with that annoying buzzer going off as u drive along.
Is the switch located beside the handbrake, and accessible.?
Tnx

Hi Boysie, I gave mine a good squoosh with electrical contact cleaner and it seems better, though I haven't had amuch of a chance to use the car in the past few weeks for me to say for sure.

The switch is pretty easy to spot once you get the cowl off which just pulls up if you move the drivers seat right back. I suspect getting the switch out would mean removing the seat, so definitely try squirting it to give it a clean first. I'm overdue a service, so I'm going to ask the Fish to take a look when I get around to booking it in, but with any luck it will be ok.

Let me know how you get on.
