Very valid reasons, imo. Hope your MiL gets better as well as for you to find a country which suits you more.
Thank you.

Varsagod (iirc).

It's been a while since I was there (uni@Lund/Helsingborg), but I had great time. Malmo was pits, but then it was due to local bikers gangs. Ah and inability to buy alchohol anywhere but state shops was weird. Not sure if that's still on.
You got it right, at least as right as you can with an English keyboard, varsågod.

Lund is a nice place, and afaik still is. Helsingborg had issues with bikers, but now seems to be heading in a better direction. Malmö, well, according to the police parts of it are no-go zones, and it is the shooting central of Sweden, so not any better at all.

Systembolaget is still alive and kicking, and preventing the Swedes from drinking too much, or is it just another state controlled tax magnet wink

That's enough about wind turbine policy and its devastating impacts on birdsof prey and bats - until Trump gets cracking on the green blob at least.

You strike me as a quitter. Do you think you'd be happy anywhere?
I once spent along time 'running' travelling to places, lived in Australia etc, but finally realised the one thing i could not run from was my own mind... so stopped drinking sorted my head out and for the most part pretty content since then...

Odd post considering that poster volunteered exceptionally valid reason why he is there.

No idea, haven't been there for a while, but will always fondly remember wasting a weekend or two going back and forthsmile.

The train splits in half. The ferry still runs, probably still full of weekend booze-cruisers with their Red Tuborg.

I was very happy in Dorset and Sussex, thank you, and so was my OH.

It still runs, at 400 SEK a pop (probably cheaper without a car), and don't forget your ID and/or passport, because without it you're not getting back into Sweden.

When I feel like topping up my stash, I go for a day on Eckerölinjen to Åland islands for the princely sum of 30 SEK, and you don't need a passport to get back in wink

And yet you seem to get awfully put out by people inheriting wealth...or are you still running from some bits of your mind? wink

His comment was in response to something I said. I haven't got a clue what he was referring to.
