We accept a certain story. Others feel they need more information. And of course others will simply believe as they like. Even in an example where we have solid evidence, we still take many elements of the overall story on faith/or accept what we are told.
We live in a free society. Total lamebrains are totally free to believe in totally lamebrain theories.

It doesn't make them smart or it doesn't give their lamebrain beliefs any credibility - it just proves they are lamebrains.

I have no problem with lamebrains - they can believe what they like.

But don't ask me to engage with them.

Oh dear. Seems they are barring certain news orgs from press briefings.

Good.
Bliar, Mandelson and Campbell did a similar thing a different way in the UK, they simply leaked policy and gov't responses to The Guardian.

I hope you're not attempting to justify Trumps regime by comparing it to Blair et al. All equally disturbing surely?

From what I have read about it, combined with trumps (no coincidence there?), this is dangerous. Stifling the press, this is back that that nothing statement banded about, " fake press".

President trump does not like people telling him no. Does not like hearing that things might not be as he thinks. Couple that with Bannon, who also sees things so far right and has some sway on the President and probably still runs brietbart, what a combination to screw up reporting. Yo want to shout fake news at what you do not like, you ain't seen anything compared to what this pair are trying to do.

It might well end in disaster. He'll got for protectionism. That'll not be great for the world, and that includes the USA.

This man is a caricature of a gormless president. I've seen a film about him.

Not justifying anything by anyone.

Merely pointing out that this isn't news.

Fake news isn't news either, obviously, see below with my emphasis added.

A stranger to our shores watching Tony Blair at the Leveson Inquiry yesterday would have got the impression of a reasonable and decent man who had unaccountably been abused and mistreated by a — his word — ‘feral’ Press. If I had not lived through the Blair years, and seen the way in which newspapers were manipulated and sometimes lied to by his formidable Press machine, I might have been persuaded by this suave and confident performance.
Feral press, oooer.

Not much outcry over here at the time - now suddenly there is and it's not our lizards either.

I think politicians have manipulated the media ( no press then) and lied, since at least Roman times.

It is certainly nothing new. I also think that the way Mr Trump tackles his relationship with the media is interesting, to say the least.

People just now realizing that? laugh

Classic fascism. Denigrate the media that opposes you, support and endorse the propaganda machine, decry everything else as false. Lie, obfuscate, confuse.

No need to be such a drama queen. Or leftwing fear-mongering. Almost all major countries on the planet are more protectionist than the US. The Economic Freedom index shows Germany is roughly 5% more protectionist, Spain and France 20%, and China 30%.

Trump is not anti-trade. He is pro-fair-trade. The days where China gets easier access to the US than the US gets to China are numbered.
