I said in January it could not be done and obviously I am not an expert on U.S politics and do not pretend to be. So it must have been even clearer to the people on the inside that this was doomed.

its just politics mate, no different to the Prime Minister being defeated on tax credits, with about the same impact as this defeat : sod all.

As I also posted previously, I don't think he is above reproach. I personally think their Military spending plans over this current presidential term are un-sustainable. It seems like they want to keep spending money like its going out of fashion.

If you tee up the defeat of this bill with the impending tax reforms, its all set for quite a battle now because I don't think the USA can afford it all.
I agree with that. Affordability is looking very difficult, especially if he manages to push through aggressive tax reforms/cuts b

Fundamentally, Trump's economic policy is the same "trickle down economy" (that demonstrably doesn't) model, that the GOP have been using to wage war on the Middle Class since Reagan. The sad thing is that they are still falling for it.

Your predictions then - which of Trump's other campaign promises does he also never have any intention of actually following through on?
Not a matter of "no intention", more like an "inability to deliver". The jobs that are supposed to be "coming back to America" were (mostly) never exported....they were "automated out of existence". Hard to see how they are "coming back".
Seems the recent Charter Communications announcement is an old plan he is claiming credit for. However, how well paid are call centre staff, will it be a vineyard scenario.

I understand that in the U.K. More call centres are coming back.

Good, put evidence out there. What proof is he supplying and who was the President talking to.

Tears of laughter, perhaps. Not sorrow.

Look at the banner headline on that clip (0:34) "Pres Trump's call and emails were probably being monitored". That's cast iron proof, right there.....

Retired 2001. Not sure re what provenance he can bring. Bloke down the pub reckons......

However, evidence good, either way. Nunes doing a midnight run is curious.

Scary thing is now, Bannon probably going up in the Presidents estimation due to the bill failing.

Scary? OK, more scary.

I'm very familiar with Pence, he was our Governor. He's dangerous on social issues but he's cautious and he understands how the mechanism of government works. I'd trust him with the codes and he'd get rid of Bannon and co. He's a vile POS but he'd be better than the current halfwit.

One wonders why the T man did not want his name on it. Curios happenings.

Reference to him tweeting to watch someone on Fox who is suggesting Ryan needs to go.

There is a rather amusing piece on politico which probably wasn't meant to be funny.

Due to all the argy bargy over ACA aka Obamacare Trump has had to stay in Washington rather than go down to his golf resort in Florida sadly.

Instead he has gone to a resort called Trump National Golf Club in Virginia which is not too far away.

When asked "whether Trump played golf at any point during the day, the pool reporter was told the president was holding meetings."

And then

"The pool reporter later sought to clarify that statement with a White House spokesperson after photos of the president wearing golf attire and riding in a golf cart surfaced on social media

This is a brilliant piece by Fox News on how it unraveled

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/03/25/divided...

Freedom Caucus and the Tuesday Group all within one party. Neither can be pleased it seems. And that's just the House, didn't even get it to the Senate who are another kettle of fish.

PS I do like good writing in these times by journo's and although I am not your typical FoxNews person, more liberal I did enjoy reading that insight.

Thanks Turbobloke. The issues have become so convoluted I now read a broad band of news from left to right, from BBC, CNN to Politico, Breibart and Fox. All have their bent but if you read all you know their slant before you go there, then you hope to pan the nuggets of gold. And there are lots of them, the US journalists are among the very best of course. And worst.... smile

I think it is a failing on our part just to read news that suits your world view and then have confirmation. There are too many folk who then spout the party line like parrots. It lets the politicians off the hook as well, from both sides, which ain't clever.

It really is extraordinary that even Fox News is doing proper journalism to try and bring Trump and the GOP to account.

Fox news doesn't know which side it wants to win. I wonder if it is down to mixed messages. It is interesting looking across the board to see the directions and what is ignored and what is trumpeted.

To try to appease the conservatives, Trump and Ryan added the following list of services, insurance companies would no longer be required to provide under law. And not only for Obama care but for all health insurance. All this was done in the last hour before voting, Nice? but still wasn't enough for the Tea party to vote for it.

These people are just getting started.
