Fake news is just a term used to nay say the issue. News orgs will get it right and they will get it wrong and they will spin it a little or a lot. They have been doing it since print was invented.

I bet them cave drawing of blokes spearing large animal, well, the animals were the smaller version. Caveman just begged himself up.

Every time I hear fake news now, I think someone is close to the mark, and the shouter in chief is running.

He thinks infowars is real news. They believe the moon landings were faked.

Says it all doesn't it.

Vice Fake News. Viceland Fake News Channel for Leftists.
It's kind of amusing that Vice was co-founded by Gavin McInnes, given his political leanings.

Anyways, it has always been a rag. Like many things hipster, the illusion of the thing they were purportedly doing was much more important than the substance.
Yeah but you guys think infowars and breitbart are not fake news.

Shall we just assume all news is fake from now and we can just believe what we want?
I have never commented on Infowars, and I don't read Breitbart. But I realize that such a statement would never stop you from claming otherwise.

It's not about what's 'fake' or not for a lot of people, it's about being able to dismiss what they don't want to read. It's a simpleton's substitute where they can write off the source rather than have to look at the content and make a critical assessment of it.

Apologies if I'm mistaken and you haven't.

Mustang certainly has though. His news source doesn't believe the moon landing happened therefore has zero credibility to anyone with a brain.

True in the general sense, but worth keeping in mind is that the term "fake news" was put out by Clinton and the MSM to distract from a series of embarassing retractions, editorials, and spiked polls that several Clinton friendly MSM outlets were involved in.

It applies equally to people of any political persuasion to are unwilling / incapable of discussing the content rather than the source.

I'm listening to Trump, I see he's decided not to claim his was the biggest win since Reagan again biggrin

Strange how Trump has time to criticise the level of shootings in Chicago (because presumably that's Obama's fault).. yet doesn't take time to condemn this racist shooting or praise the hero involved - http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article...

See, here is the thing. I am quite certain that you also can't personally verify the moon landing. Does that mean it was fake? No (and I don't think it was), but the fact is, conspiracy theories exist where there is a lack of information or transparency. The Reichstag fire falls into the conspiracy category. So does Tuskegee, and there are countless other examples.

We accept now that these things happened a certain way that, at the time, would have had you in a padded cell in the minds of some. To completely close your mind on an issue for which you lack information is not a sign of intelligence, no matter who is telling you you are right or wrong.

We are lied to all of the time by sources we are supposed to trust. That is where critical thinking comes in.

You can go out right now, shoot a laser at a reflector we placed on the moon and it'll bounce straight back to you.

And you know I mean at an appropriate site before you claim you can't do it from home.

I wasn't making a point about you specifically. I was saying anyone can. That's solid evidence and people still deny we did it. You cant argue with such morons.

Trump is in this category.

There's a difference between lacking information on an issue and not being able to verify it personally.

We accept a certain story. Others feel they need more information. And of course others will simply believe as they like. Even in an example where we have solid evidence, we still take many elements of the overall story on faith/or accept what we are told.
