Trump tweets then (illegally?) deletes statement that the press is the enemy of the American people.

If the media is the enemy of the American people then shouldn't they also be his enemy too? confused

Thick as pigst.

This cannot be overstated. Going to ramp up to hysteria level 11.
The Establishment is an angry, dangerous beast which Trump is poking with a stick.

I expect a Steve Irwin moment sometime soon.

Most people also expected him to lose the election. He didn't. Wake wakey, rise & shine!

We have moved on.

This is a new game - and Trump doesn't even know the rules. He's in the big league now with people who know how it all works.

Abe Lincoln (as ever) knew exactly how it works.

You can fool some of the people all of the time.
You can fool all of the people some of the time.
But you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Trump is going to find this out pretty damn fast - I suspect.

So why is everyone so angry and upset? I know in the USA it's because they lost and they don't like to lose, but here in the UK?

What's the worst that could happen that may change the way you live your life do you think?

It's because they've been watching too many panel shows like 'Have I got News For you'.

It's just so sad to see a great nation being run by a total moron. I have a lot of time for Americans and the US and it pains me that someone so deranged has ended up being President.

However, all is not lost. I have great faith that the democratic institutions of the US will ensure that either -

a) Trump stays in power but ends up operating as a proper US head of state should

b) the electorate see sense and dumps him at the next opportunity

c) if none of the above happens, he ends up out of the White House under the 25th Amendment of the US Constitution.

I think that in a few month';s time when those who voted for him see that their lives are no better - and probably a lot worse - they will see the light.

I suspect he will not acknowledge his own role in the storm that is engulfing him, he is a typical rich boy who has bullied everyone he encounters with no empathy for others at all. Everything will be the fault of Fake News! Imagine his shock when Putin turns out not to be an ally but someone scheming for his own ends who doesn't care less about the Donald?

He reminds me of some who post here on PH.

He can never, ever admit that something he said might have been wrong. I can see why he appeals to certain types.

Who's angry or upset? Pretty much no-one that I can see. Sure people are incredulous, curious, amused, astonished, and various other flavours of interested mixed with surprised, but I'm pretty sure no-one's upset or even particularly bothered beyond a speculative interest in how things might knock-on globally. It's quite simply just an interesting subject to discuss.

Of course there are a few half-wits who like to claim anyone pointing out Trump's flaws are somehow hand-wringers, snowflakes, and various other lame epithets, in an risible attempt to claim the upper ground, but they can safely be ignored.

Well, he may not be the best at putting his points across, but he has a long way to go to catch up with all the Bushisms!

He always said from years back he never wanted to be President, but he didn't like what he saw regarding the way his country was going.

Many others obviously agreed.

He's such an easy target. The real fools are those thinking they are being funny using him as material for cheap laughs.

It certainly seems that way. I rarely see so much forum space dedicated to things people are not particularly bothered about!

Back to slagging of those with different views. It's amazing how this thread keeps drifting away from the topic under discussion.

Slagging off those with different views = Trump, so maybe it's bang on topic?

The topic certainly does seem to attract those who are incapable of separating the topic from the debaters. So, yes, a bit like Trump.

It does question the intelligence of those who are unable to discuss a topic without having a go at those who express alternative views.

Just like Trump.

But what if Eric, he is right? Remember Harold Wilson was not liked by some in the civil service who were plotting against him. Are the establishment fearful things will never be the same again if they don't crush him?

When you look at everything that has been thrown against him during the election process, if even half was true, Why did the American people still vote him in. Ignoring all the popular vote nonsense. They still felt he was the best where it counted most.

Did the American people agree with him that the media was biased and they ignored the reporting. I have never witnessed so much be thrown at one man and whatever he does will be pulled apart by some.

But what if he creates jobs? What if he makes a difference in the Inner cities, Obama did do so well there?

Why are people so surprised he is doing the things he said he would do, is it because no other elected politicians has tried to keep his promise?

I think that his failure on the travel ban for example, was the legal advice he had was it was within his power to do so. The courts felt otherwise and he has lost. He will come back with another one or alternatively he has homeland so busy with coming up with an extreme vetting process, that he may well not need one.

Whatever, he will go down in history as one of the most interesting presidents, nothing boring at all.
