Yes I do: I just would not use that word as I regard it as one that should not be devalued.

Then carry on using it and devaluing its importance in our society. That is IMHO a shame as such attitudes are shameful and need eradicating. I am for one am glad that my family has embraced a multi cultural life and do not need to use it in its true meaning any more then. phew

You removed the part of Pistonhead's post in your quote which made the point and gave the context in which he was using the word.

Why would you do that?

But was quick enough without leaving an edit note and for you to quote it. Fair enough.

I pressed submit by accident without it and added it 5 seconds after the first bit. If stinky wasn't sitting at his computer constantly hitting refresh it wouldn't have happened laugh

Anyway the first sentence makes the point too.

Trump still has massive support in the US. Just because you see things reported otherwise over here you cannot say he has not got support.

In Portland, Anti Trump supporters were blocking roads and refusing to move, all on YouTube, nothing in UK press. The police came and arrested loads and crowds were cheering.

Videos on YouTube of supporters being blocked by protesters trying to get to the inaugurations, again nothing on main stream press.

The fact that Brexit was voted for and Trump was elected is due to the feeling from so many that they are held in contempt by the leaders of our countries. Blair's latest reinvention, was just that, you had a vote, we respect that but you were too thick to understand so we need another until you get the right answer, proves it for many.
It's dangerous when the masses decide to vote AGAINST what they don't want but as a result end up voting FOR something they may not necessarily really want.

Doing things for negative reasons is not advisable.
You are correct Eric, but time and time again, when people feel let down the answer is sometimes much worse.

A better response should be for the other politicians to stop forcing voters to feel they have no choice and respond to their concerns. Telling them this medicine is for your own good, only works if things improve. It hasn't for many in lots of countries, the EU is boiling with resentment how uncheck immigration is out of hand. That has led to the rise of the far right in may ways.

Obama oversaw a period where there were jobs created, but not in the inner cities, not in the rust belts, policies that have seen middle American people go backwards in living standards and crime rise. None of those were as a result of his policies. That is why Trump saying he will bring jobs back has resonated as it is a pledge he made.

Different sources say different things, but Ford were considering moving production to Mexico, after his election they confirmed they were not doing it and actually decided that 16 months prior. Yet that is not what Mexico have said.

Intel promised Obama they would bring jobs back to the US, but did not now Trump has given the sweetener of Tax changes, they are stating work in Arizona on a new factory.

If that continues and people feel better, they will ignore the rants and the lunacy he has displayed.

I spend a lot of time in the US and American Jobs for American people making American goods does resonate there with a lot of people.

With the ban, how has Trump lost either way? He kept his election pledge and people can see what happened, some will see that as justification of their beliefs that the security of the US is second to being PC and the courts are out of touch.

We hear that a lot on here as well.

With Russia, the US arms companies need a bogey man, Putin fits the role and yet there is no way that he would attack the US, maybe he will in Europe if the EU politicians continue to poke him with a stick and try to encourage countries like the Ukraine to break even further from Moscow. Then what he has said about Nato countries not coughing up their share and relying on the US to save them is even more sense from him.

Corbyn is a clown, but if May doesn't deliver change in the NHS, care for elderly, etc. he may well do better than others think as he is different to the rest. Not necessarily different in a good way I might add.
1/4 or thereabouts of the US voted for him? Same as ant politico over here, not a high turnout and it must be pointed out to the adherents that the win was not that big. That is why he went off on one on the numbers.

The ban was and still is a big fudge. El

Putin delves deeper into world politics than you give credit and most certainly is a bogey man. He has the US in his pocket then he is pretty much free to do what he wants. Looks like he has played Trump to a tee.

Edit. Fudge. iPad trimmed the reply.

Regardless of the size, he won on the same system HRC would have supported had she won. Their system was set up so that metropolitan areas and big cities were not able to hold sway over other less populated areas.

If it is true what you say about Putin, even more reason not to undermine a president which is what the Democrats are trying to do.

I love that people suddenly think being called liberal or progressive is an insult. You know liberal people want to be associated with those words? laugh

But from now on every time you call someone a liberal/libtard/snowflake, were allowed to call you a racist white supremacist redneck. Deal?

Neither may be accurate but that doesn't stop you I guess?
Not a problem, never considered my self a liberal as such. More an observer of a train wreck in slow motion.

The buying of her products, the placement, the promotion etc. Is interesting. Conway still there? If the boot was on the other foot, that is to say the democrats in power then Trump would be tweeting for her sacking. This is painfully obvious when you look at his outpourings over the years.

i had a look at her web site. Lots of shoes and stuff. I expect her name is used to sell something, did she design them all, brew up the perfume etc. ? Problem is, they may be good clobber, or cheap Chinese tat, Mr T will not want to back down on anything here and that will also influence him. They could put their money where their mouth is and start making the bulk of the stuff in the US. that would be an excellent move really.

I have listened to MPs and councillors and AMs , n the U.K. winning speeches at the count. Especially the ones with a low turn out, one was around 37 or 40%. The gushing was cringing and the person winning thought that rubber stamped all she stood for.

Thing to remember is, rub up the rest the wrong way and the next turn out might be higher and Mrs New Elected is out on her ear.

Interesting take on what the democrats are doing with Putin. not sure they are doing a lot. The press, who the president has certainly never rubbed up the wrong way, ask awkward questions. Shame on them, however the opposition the U.K. Is getting short shrift for not being an opposition, i would expect the Democrats to be the opposition in the same way we expect ours and to take the party in power to task and moderate excesses. Politics is a dirty game and I am more than sure that if it were the other way around, the GOP would be playing the same game. As indeed they did and are now. I think US politics is more raw than here in the U.K.

However, asking them to butt out because Trump says Putin is a nice fellow, well, that will work.

In that rambling speech earlier this week, he told everyone how the military were great and they needed loads more new kit much as he did during his election campaign but he still had no plan he is willing to share. Aside from the cost of F35 he just keeps repeating the claim that the military need new kit and hell deliver. No mention of costs our the capability. The question is how long will the most ardent of trump supporters continue their support without any substance from the man himself on this or any other issue.

People will turn. I know lots of labor supporters now paid members of the Lib Dems or Tories because they have no faith in Corbyn. How long does Trump have this huge wave of support?

How much more do they want to spend on the military? It's already around $600 billion, which is apparently as much as the next 7 biggest spenders combined.

It's a job creation exercise in the main. Even the Pentagon has asked Congress to stop buying stuff it doesn't want.
