A car park i visited yesterday has 4 ticket machines, 2 of which are out of action.
I'm told the reason is that they have already been upgraded to accept only the new £1 coins. They'll run the machines in tandem until the old coins are fully demised, then they'll upgrade the other 2 machines.

Thruppeny pieces are making a comeback.
I have an old tea caddy full of 'em.
I love the old threepenny bits. My missus has some from the 60s. Occasionally she gets them out for me to have a look at.I have an old tea caddy full of 'em.

They started making them in 2016, all of the ones I've had so far have been that yearI got to have a proper look at one the other day. Some very interesting features. What I took at first to be random dimples right in the corner of the raised edge, are actually miniscule numbers!
I was also impressed by how they've managed to make a hologram out of a single layer of metal

I got my first two yesterday, and I felt a like a right nerd being excited about them - taking me back to seeing my first point coin at school when they were launched. My only comment is that I think I would
Have preferred for the edges to be more defined and less like a rounded disc.
