Hi Guys

First time using this site and reason for this is that I am looking to buy a BMW X3 and the one I have seen is selling for 3K excellent condition but has 180K miles on the clock, they say full service history but I am wondering what the general consensus would be about buying an X3 with such a high mileage on the clock?

I hear the X5 have many problems but not sure about the X3
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Martin

E53 X5 had a few electrical issues, same issues that the E39 5 series had as they both share parts. Gearbox can go pop but if maintained well then is OK on the X5. Personally the 1st gen X3 is a bit horrid to me and the X5 would be the nicer, better and more premium car to drive.

I looked at a few when I was after a compact SUV for the wife a few years back. Generally very poor condition and didn't wear their miles very well. Also very small inside, which kinda made them useless, might as well have a hatch back.

We ended up going for an Infiniti FX35 instead which has been tremendous. Admittedly, not a £3k car though.

Tbh I wonder how many modern mass market German cars are alot higher mileage than we think? Post lease haircut etc.

OP look for a freshly cleaned engine bay. It needs to be dirty and the most recent MOTs what pattern do they have?
